  The S.E.T.

Hiya folks, I finished this one around August, but never got around to photographing it. I am in the process of taking it apart now, but I snapped a few shots before I started. (URL) am going to post an animation tomorrow of the middle section (...) (23 years ago, 23-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

(...) That's an awesome ship! I can't wait to see the animation. Cheers Richie Dulin (23 years ago, 23-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

  Re: The S.E.T.

(...) Too cool, Joel. The grav section is excellent, and I really like the way you built the cannon on top from the blade thingys. Well done, as usual. ~Grand Admiral Muffin Head (23 years ago, 23-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

  Re: The S.E.T.

That thing's nice. =) Any chance we could see the inside of the rotating section, and its' mechanism? (23 years ago, 23-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

  Re: The S.E.T.

(...) Legos to be able to build huge. I am so frustrated because I don't have all the parts I need to finish my TMC Dropship and Retrieval Vehicle. I am mostly frustrated because I don't have the money to buy more parts. Anyway, I really liked this (...) (23 years ago, 23-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

  Re: The S.E.T.

(...) thanks :) Yep, I broke down and finally put weapons on one of my ships! I have mostly done passenger and cargo vessels so far, but since this is more of an "uncharted territory" explorer, I figured it needed some defensive capabilites. I (...) (23 years ago, 23-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

  Re: The S.E.T.

(...) thanks! Indeed I shall share the mechanism. I actually posted the mechanism a few months ago when I started building the SET. It was the first thing I sat down and worked out: (URL) two black boxes on each end of the roto-tube get built into (...) (23 years ago, 23-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

  Re: The S.E.T.

(...) thanks! I understand what you mean about the amount of parts. I had to spend most of my disposable income on Lego for the last couple years to able to build stuff of this size, and after building the BenGrace, this ship doesn't feel that large (...)   Re: The S.E.T.

(...) thanks! I just posted the SET animation to brickshelf... its a little jumpy, but it gets the idea across: (URL) K (23 years ago, 23-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

  Re: The S.E.T.

Wow. Incredibly odd, yet incredibly cool looking? For some reason, I really like the transparent bay at the rear. Nice use of hinges and such. What was your inspiration for this baby? The rotating thing is awesome. I have stared at your little gyro (...) (23 years ago, 24-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

Very cool! Has that rugged, functional, 2010 Lianov look to it. ~ Tom -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - (URL) sp[cl+++(6891)] moc+++(a1-f) yb77 Joel Kuester <septenemae@hotmail.com> wrote in message (...) (23 years ago, 24-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

(...) thanks, I am glad you think it looks odd :) I don't what was making this shape happen... I just sketch ship concepts all the time in my notebook, usually based around certain functions... and this is what I came up with when I put a few (...) (23 years ago, 24-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

Joel, you are one of my favorite builders, this ship is very unussual and quite interesting. Cool job.....I always look foward to your creations. Thanks, Eric www.mylegomaster.com (...) (23 years ago, 24-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

  Re: The S.E.T.

(...) thanks, although the name Lianov doesn't ring a bell with me, is he the designer of the ships from the movie 2010? cheers! Joel K (23 years ago, 25-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

  Re: The S.E.T.

(...) Thank you, I do plan on building a much larger ship with two long side-by-side gravity sections, but not for a long time. I am commited to some modules in the NILTC right now, and most of my parts are going into those. Plus I'm sort of burned (...) (23 years ago, 25-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

  Re: The S.E.T.

(...) IIRC, it's the name of the Russians' ship in 2010. ~Grand Admiral Muffin Head (23 years ago, 25-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)

  Re: The S.E.T.

I'm sure I mispelled it, but Lianov was the name of the Russian ship they took to Jupiter. It had a rotating center section as well (though very different than yours). (URL) a look at those if you're curious. ~ Tom -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - (...) (23 years ago, 25-Nov-01, to lugnet.space)
