BrickOS 0.9.0 -- Debian "sarge" works...

Well, wouldn't you know, on the very next dist-upgrade after I posted that brickOS 0.9.0 was still in "unstable" on Debian, it materialized in "testing". My laziness was undone! Anyways, I compiled the examples in the Debian-packaged demo (...) (20 years ago, 6-Feb-05, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

At the very end of the build after you built/instaled the cross compliter and BirckOs source you executed a make command. When you did this you got a whole bunch (...)   Re: Question about mm.C in BrickOS

(...) <snip> (...) I've never looked at brickOS code, but here is my take: By the time you hit line 2, you've found a free block that is big enough. Line 2 sets the owner of the block.   Re: Interesting BrickOS Timing Results

Mark, ANOTHER great find! You are pushing BrickOS to new heights! Ok, so what can we do about this? 1) Provide a constant to set the update frequency at compile time. 2) Provide a variable to set the update frequency at run time. 3) Optimize the (...)   Re: Installing BrickOS 0.2.6.09.newConf2

(...) Its a bug, fixed in the cvs version of brickOS, I believe. For now, adding: CFLAGS+=-D_WIN32 to the top of Makefile.common might work. I can't test it, because I don't have the h8300 compiler set up at the moment. -- Max. (22 years ago, 24-Nov-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Suggestion: Provide precompiled Cygwin h8300 gcc+binutils, downloadable via Cygwin setup.

Compiling your own compiler is undoubtably the hardest barrier of entry to brickos. I suggest that the h8300 binutils and gcc be distributed as Cygwin packages from the brickos website. This would simplify the install to merely running Cygwin setup, (...) (22 years ago, 30-Nov-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)
