Hi All. I'm trying to build an IR proximity sensor with LegOS, by using the on-board transmitter and light sensor. I'm having problems figuring out how to send data, however. I tried using lnp_logical_write(), but 'cu -l /dev/ttyS0' doesn't show any (...) (27 years ago, 27-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Hi there, I'm using OSX with lejos and have got it working fine, but am wanting to get using the "rcxcomm" part, i can compile the examples, but can't start up the SocketProxy, does anyone know how to do this in OSX/linux? they say you have to: "Add (...) Well, Philo did it again, Hourrah for him... I bypassed the fuse and the RCX came back to life. Now, will I be carefull enough with my RCX without a fuse or should I replace it ? (19 years ago, 2-Sep-07, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

(...) right, that's why i'm planning to have one rcx output drive a polarity switch that connects the power motor to a normal battery box / 9v adaptor without current limiter. (19 years ago, 4-Sep-07, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

(...) My mistake. The RCX 1.0 has an AC adaptor jack which has a full-wave bridge rectifier to convert to DC and would provide AC protection. I guess RCX 2.0, without the external jack, does not have this. (19 years ago, 26-Aug-07, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

(...) While your RCX is fried, it is probably not from plugging AC power into the power plug. LEGO's low voltage adaptor is an AC adaptor. Or did you mean you applied AC power to the RCX sensor port? (19 years ago, 26-Aug-07, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Problem: I Have 2 Lego RCX's 1 Lego Scout and a Lego Remote. I want to build and operate 2 robots at the same time. I applied 9V AC power to a RCX 2.0... yes yes, DC is required. Does anybody successfully repaired such a disaster ? Here are pictures pointing to what I think burned out. What is that component ? Hi Patrick, (...) that looks like a somewhat large diode to me. In my own picture it is round and is marked with a diode symbol and "A2". (...) It shouldn't he hard to replace.
