| | Re: IR tower problems on a laptop with NQC
|
| (...) Does the green light in the tower come on at all when you try to send the message? Is the light only on when you are trying to communicate? If the light is always one I would look for another application that is trying to use the serial port. (...) (18 years ago, 12-Mar-07, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, FTX)

| | RE: IR-Tower and PowerBook-G3 ?
|
| (...) This might sound stupid, but did you try it with the G3 attached to a wall wart? The reason I mention this is that my digital camera only downloads to my laptop if the laptop is plugged in to the wall. The laptop serial levels DO change (...) | | Re: IR-Tower and PowerBook-G3 ?
|
| (...) Yes. The PB-G3 is plugged into a wall-wart almost all the time. I thought of that also. Very strange. I'm resurecting an old SE/30 in the hopes that I can squeeze MPW into an 8MB machine. I think the serial ports on that machine ought to be (...) (25 years ago, 10-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

| (...) Yes, AT is set to ethernet. (...) OK, I'll try that also. BTW, I now have nqc running on my *old* SE/30 (8MB) with a version of MPW I found on ETO-20. Everything seems to work fine. Downloads firmware as well as test.nqc Still mystified by the (...) (25 years ago, 11-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

| | Re: IR Tower Use
|
| (...) The only IrCOMM I know of is part of the IrDA standard. It provides something that looks just like a typical serial port to the application, but underneath is layered on top of IrLAP (packet based link level prototocol for IrDA). This means (...) | | Re: Help needed: Problems setting up the IR tower

| I have tried both Andi Scharfstein´s and Reinis Kanders´ recommendations and everything seems ok but there was no improvement... The comm port works fine with my PalmPilot craddle but not with my IR tower...Does anyone else have another (...) (24 years ago, 14-Jun-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| | Mac IR tower error: No response from IR device
|
| I'm trying to download the firmware using MacNQC. When ever I try, I get the problem: Error: No response from IR device. I'm using a Mac beige G3, printer port, OS 9.0.4. I'm using a Palm Mac adapter and the lego cable. The green light does come on (...) (24 years ago, 27-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

| | Question for John Barnes
|
| hi John, Some time ago there was a discussion about keeping the IR-tower alive. I want to keep the IR-tower alive, for fast data transport from RCX to PC. You mentioned that you had drawn the circuit diagram, but you never published it. Do you have (...) (23 years ago, 22-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| ...Problem Solved #include <lnp/lnp-logical.h> lnp_logical_range(1); I set the IR transmission range to far and everything works fine. It seems the issue was that the RCX's are not facing eachother and depend on bouncing mesages off a wall. I'm (...) (22 years ago, 3-Jan-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

| (...) Yep. Thats the exact same PowerBook that I have, even down to the speed. I never could get it to talk to the IR Tower. The same IR Tower would talk to the older SE/30 with no problems. It may be a volage problem, or it may have something to do (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

| | Forced to use IR Tower?
|
| Hi all, sorry if off-topic, but perhaps anybody knows if there is anyway to communicate with RCX through my laptop ir port. Actually I connect with my Palm through COM4, but when I set Bricxcc to this port says can't find robot. Thanks Francis (23 years ago, 12-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| Hi, I'm trying to find out how I could could communicate with the IR tower and RCX using Director shockwave 8, so then I can use a web page to controll it, I've seen the eight ball website, but it dosn't explain very much about how the RCX is linked (...) | | Infrared range of RCX
|
| Hi all. I've been experimenting with the range of the Infrared communication between RCX's. I noticed that RCX #1 could send a message to RCX #2 at a distance of about 80 feet. However, RCX #2 could only send a message to RCX #1 at about a distance (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jun-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
