Re: BrickOS installation with WinME and Cygnus problems

(...) Max, Here's one of your suggestions, and the cygcheck.out file is in the email (the check is in the mail) ;) Most of this is greek to me; it's been a long time since I've been able to deal with a Unix system.   Re: HELP - LegOS for Windows

I fooled around with legOS on an NT here at work and could get the individual commands from MAKEFILE to execute from the command line. It looks like NT doesn't properly handle the long filenames from within the make program (and possibly other (...) (25 years ago, 31-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

(...) Bingo! I reached the bricktools/ of the frame-free: (URL) bytes At a glance, I missed how bricxcc toggles x08 in the command op to let command ops be repeated, but I'd now guess the bricxcc algorithm for framing standard RCX replies is: 1) (...)   Re: RCX Controlled Air Compressor Tester

Hmm maybe I should clean up my Compressor design and add it to my Lego page I have expanded on the mini-compressor to make it double action - but full stroke. It is about twice as long as the mini pump, and a little wider due to three 24t gears. (...) (25 years ago, 29-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: NQC and RIS2.0 Firmware

(...) I found the problem... When verifying the checksum, the ROM scans [8000, cc00). Since it zeros out this area initially, this would indeed reflect the checksum of the firmware, provided it is less than 4400 bytes long (in hex). NQC sums the (...)   OS X Complier problems solved--now struggling with BrickOS

Ok, you can (perhaps--I haven't been able to test it yet) ignore my previous post. I was trying to build the cross compiler using GCC 3.3, and nothing I tried would work. When I switched to 3.2.3, the errors disappeared. So I'm making the temporary (...) (21 years ago, 14-Jun-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

The compiler I have decided to use (Watcom C/C++ v.11 from Powersoft) will compile from the platform I am developing on (NT 4) to the desired executing platform (DOS) and will use long file names just fine.   Re: Spurious bad readings from sensors

This is due to long interrupt latencies in BrickOS that (...) (21 years ago, 25-Feb-04, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

(...) I measured the RCX consumes about 33mA in ROM or Lego Firmware, around 26.5mA under LegOS (due to the sleep instruction in the idle task), and it will use 0.034mA when turned off. No matter how long you sleep in your task, the RCX will consume (...) (25 years ago, 26-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

The Lego firmware cuts power for about 200uS, with a period of 3mS. So most sensors have to have enough capacitor based power storage for the full 200uS and be able to run on about 93% duty cycle.
