My son really liked the book "Building Robots with Lego Mindstorms" by Ferrari, Ferrari, and Hempel, because it teaches design principles, rather than just giving step-by-step instructions. (17 years ago, 27-Mar-08, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

I am attempting to turn the reflective light on and off periodically. It works fine in RobotC. However, in Robolab, once it is turned off (via the robolab light sensor initialization - set the light on to "false"), it won't turn on again during (...) Recently, I've bought WiiMote (Nintendo Wii Controller), which can be tethered to a regular PC via Bluetooth. You can then use for example this library - (URL) - to read WiiMote buttons, IR and accelerometer data. I've combined this with a simple (...) (17 years ago, 27-Jan-08, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

If your IR tower still functions, and it's just a matter of not having a serial port, the simplest solution would be to just buy an adapter that will allow you to hook up a serial device to a USB port. Guys, Just retrieved my (dusted) RCX kit & a few spybots, when I move things around, unfortunately, my notebook does not have serial port any more. Moreover, the CD does not support XP either. I just gave my 12 year old daughter a RIS 1.0 (yep, an original one with the 1.0 RCX) set for her birthday.
