  Re: Firmdl3 updated

(...) So my 18k kernel actually only takes 9k of RCX memory? Suddenly my apparent out-of-memory errors make a lot less sense.... (24 years ago, 20-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

(...) Isn't the actual size of the kernal about half the .srec size? That file contains ascii codes for for hex bytes, a pair of characters would be one byte. Rossz (24 years ago, 20-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

(...) Actually, the kernel can hit 21-22K (depending on the compile-time options.) My current legOS.srec sits at 21232 bytes. So, I'm going to do the update. When I muck about with Exploration Mars software, the RCX doesn't go out of range until it's out of the room. With pbForth, the RCX receives the commands over just as far a range, but can only send its "ok" feedback when it is quite close to the (...) You must not have had QuickTime 4 installed previously. The RIS software forces install of QT2 and 3 (pretty damned archaic if you ask me) and if you already have 4 installed, which huge numbers of people do now, yer up the crick. As I mentioned (...) I had *no* trouble installing RIS 1.5 on my Win2K system, and it runs pretty well, most of the time. But then, I don't program in RIS myself, only use it to answer questions for people doing FLL and using the RIS programming environment. -Peter (...) The tower is just a serial device! No driver (other than that supplied by Win2K) needed! You can also use NQC to program your brick, or order RoboLab ($25) from Pitsco (www.pldstore.com). You'll be waiting quite a while I'm afraid.
