Marco,
TCP/IP is clearly wayyy to complicated for the 68HC11 to deal with
on the handyboard. The simplest solution is wireless modems which
act effectively as wireless serial lines between your PC and your
Handyboard. I've used the 900Mhz modem that came with Laplink
Wireless with the Handyboard (I had to use my own code because IC
wouldn't tolerate character dropouts). You can buy spreadspectrum
modems which are assignable to channels which could give you a
unique channel to every board.
You have to first decide what sort of topology you want to run,
do all boards see all traffic? or is traffic for one board
invisible to another? How many ports can you tie up on your PC?
Etc etc.
Proxim (www.proxim.com) sells the ProxLink
(http://www.proxim.com/proxim/products/proxlink/proxlink.htm)
which will give you point to point connectivity.
