Hi Brian, When Fred and I designed the Rev 2.0 6.270 controller, we consciously made the expansion bus small and simple. OK. I know this is going to be a long shot, but here goes: Are there any docs on the pcode? I.e. is there some way that I can learn what I need to learn to modify the source code pcode.asm besides reading the file pcode.asm and tearing my hair out? (...) I think the question on how to run higher current motors has got to be the most asked question here. Maybe we should add more info to the FAQ or something. Do you have to choose a transistor that will switch somewhere near and below 9 volts? Cause Fred mentioned that the handyboard is rated for 9V motors. But, does this mean that the pulse generator make 9V square waves? (...) (29 years ago, 4-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) A really wild/money is almost no object idea would be to get electronic speed controls from radio controlled cars. These things can control up to several tens of amps continuously. There's four switches on the control box, some wires going to the vehicle, and four motor/gearbox combos in the machine that the wires supply power to. No drivers, no heat (...) Today I ran out to Toys 'R' Us and bought a wired-remote controlled excavator to serve as the base for my HandyBoard. It seems to be causing me a little problem, though. Note that the spec sheet for the L293D states that the package can only dissipate 5 watts. With a voltage drop of 1.3 volts that is 3.85 amps total through all drivers.
