Hi all, has anyone interfaced a microphone to an analog input of the HB? I've amplified the signal with an op-amp (LM386) but can't figure how to integrate the (AC) signal into a usable voltage range for the HB. I don't think that just rectifying (...) John, Thanks for the excerpt. Ouch. On first read, it looked like the 6811's input pin was beefier than I had originally thought. For a less correct solution, you can take advantage of the fact that HC parts (including the 6811) have built in voltage limiters that are only good for fractional milliamps (in some cases (...) The correct solution to your problem is to use an op-amp signal conditioner, possibly feeding into a schmidt trigger if you need some hysteresis. (sp?) You can also rig a zener (...) I don't remember exactly, but the memory map for IC is something like: pcode itself: 8K used user compiled code + global program data: 16K available user process stacks and runtime locals: 8K available ---...--- 32K total memory this is ball park. It all depends on how much you want to spend and how you want to drive them. 1) The piggy back method works, but is difficult to manage mechanically and the chips weren't designed for it. you can use dip switches in the standard digital in ports if you either (a) solder them to male header first, or (b) insert them in a wire-wrap socket and then insert the wire-wrap socket pins into the HB sensor ports. both of these methods get (...) A really good reference on the Motorola MC68HC11 family and microcontrollers in general is "Design with Microcontrollers" by John Peatman (ISBN 0-07-049238-7).
