  Re: your mail

(...) Yep. You used the wrong phone cord between the HB and the serial interface board. Fred recently answered that question on this group, I'd direct you to the archives of this list but I don't know where that is. The phone cord, I *think*, is (...) did you perchance use a different telephone cable when plugging in your HB? if so, please see the FAQ for an answer. if not, there was some kind of short, either at the rj11 connectors or on the HB. -fred In your message you said: (...) (27 years ago, 12-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: charger board

It looks like your resistors are burned due to the short circuit between pin3 and pin4 of J10 on the charger board. I guess what you need is to replace those resistors (R11 and R12) and yellow LED, and the charger board will work again. Those (...) (27 years ago, 12-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Hello all, I was charging my HB the other day, and suddenly, the two resistors right by the yellow "charge" LED on the serial interface ckt. went up in smoke. Has this happened to anyone else? Colby (27 years ago, 12-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: positioning of robot

What is your application of the robot? My experience has shown that different wheel configurations lend themselves naturally to different applications: In general, think about how you want your robot to move and turn, and what sort of terrain it (...)   Hall Effect Trans.

I have to measure the speed of a wheel similiar to a bicycle wheel. I figure the best way (or at least one way) to do it is to use a hall effect transistor switching into a counter. Does anyone have any suggestions for a part/manufacturer to use for (...) (27 years ago, 11-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Hall Effect Trans.

I'd like to hear what you come up with as well. Presently I just use the magnet/coil sensor pairs that you can buy in any bike store. You just hook the shield to ground, and the other wire to, say, an input-capture pin of a 68HC11, with a 3.3 K pull (...) (27 years ago, 11-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Voltage

Yeah, the 12V goes into the motor power pin of the L293's. Thus you will get a higher than 9.6 motor voltage. ---...--- ericson mar Master of Engineering Candidate Project: Mobile Robotics mar@cooper.edu (212)353-4356 Department of Mechanical (...)
