Re: Handy Board Problem: getting hb back into download mode

Hello, I'm at a loss for what will take to get either of the two boards into DL mode. The board has nothing plugged into it; the BATT and PWR LEDs flash on and then PWR remains on so I can not confirm the synptoms of the ds1233(U12) voltage monitor (...)   Re: your mail

(...) Get your soldering iron, some solder labeled electronics use, some old circuit board, and solder away. Or, you could take an old computer board and desolder some components from it, and re-solder them in. Just get in there and do it. You know (...)   Re: Vector 2x compass

A mistake has been found on the V2X schematic, the M/S pin on the compass needs to be grounded. I don't know what it is, everytime I publish something, I make a mistake. (27 years ago, 19-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Strange HB problems

Over the past two days I have had two problems with my HB that I can't explain. Maybe you you can help. 1. I wrote a simple program to test out my motors that consists of the motor, sleep, and beep commands. Once in a while I get an error back while (...) Another note on soldering.. Heat control is VERY important.. Not so much being able to adjust the heat, as having a temperature-controlled iron. The "cheaper" irons get hotter or colder with the load (speed of soldering) as well as the room (...) (27 years ago, 19-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Soldering (fwd)

Often novices miss the single most fundamental point about soldering: you don't use the iron to melt the solder (99% of the time) -- you heat the component leads and let them melt the solder. To initially transfer heat effectively to the leads, a (...) (27 years ago, 18-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) experience >at all with soldering. (...) become more >adept at this sort of stuff. And what type of solder should I use? Shane is right, you'll find using very thin solder works much better. Along with a fine tip, you'll want to use a low (...) (27 years ago, 18-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Soldering/ Second processor

->Hi, I'm planning to purchase the handyboard as a kit from Digital Mirco System, since I'm a bit tight with money. However, I'm a bit hesitant (...) soldering. The trick is to use THIN 60/40 solder with flux core. Around 0.71 mm thickness is good. (...) (27 years ago, 17-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
