  Re: SPI & Vector2x

(...) Maybe, it'll depend on the flooring. I think re-bar in a concrete floor might affect a compass too close to the floor. Last night I was playing with the compass, and found that passing a screwdriver within about 3 inches would affect the (...) (28 years ago, 7-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Preprocessor for DOS or Windows or '95?

Hello, I want to use assembler in conjunction with IC, as described in the handyboard technical reference. Apparently this needs a preprocessor. Does anyone have such a thing, or know how to kludge it, or even what it does so I can try to write (...) (28 years ago, 7-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Re[2]: phone cord length

thx for correcting my wording. e.g., instead of saying "half twist" i should say "straight through". anyhow, we agree on the definition of what is a phone cable and what is not a phone cable, we just have a different way of illustrating it. the (...)   Breaking

I was wondering what methods of breaking have been used with handyboard motors. Is it OK just to slam them in reverse for a few milliseconds ? Or will the large current impulse be harmful to the motor and driver chips ? It looks like the breaking (...) (28 years ago, 7-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Re[2]: phone cord length

Sorry Fred, but I must respectfully disagree..... Fred G. Martin wrote: (snip) (...) Actually it is phone cords which are the crossover type. Use of a patch- cord tester confirms this.   SPI & Vector2x

The v2x compass sounds like a great unit for keeping a mouse centered in a maze corridor. I am looking for some more info on the SPI header pinout, on the HB, and how to connect the v2x to it. I have also seen some .asm code and was wondering if (...) (28 years ago, 7-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Servo.lis

Can anyone tell me what servo.lis has in it. I have the servo.c file but not the lis file. I saw in an earlier email that there was an lis file too. When I load servo.c there are undefined functions. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom (28 years ago, 6-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Vector2x SPI interrupt driven code

(...) From my experience, the calibration is only needed if you need absolute heading data. Any non-moving metal in the immediate neighborhood will have a constant effect on the readings. I just care about maintaining the current heading (go (...) (28 years ago, 5-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Serial Line and Stop Switch

Hello, I am building a handy board for the first time using the Douglas Electronics boards and parts from various sources. I have been following the assembly instructions with great success but now I'm stuck at the end of section 4.4, Serial Line (...) (28 years ago, 5-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Vector2x SPI interrupt driven code

(...) I had troubles with the V2X within 2 inches of some small hobby motors. Lotsa magnet there, but larger motors have more magnet. The calibration is supposed to adjust for "hard iron" disturbances, so just having it bolted to your robot with (...) (28 years ago, 5-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Help! - Strange Bug.

Hey Tom How close is too close? How far away do you have it? Any problems with just pieces of metal, like casters or maybe a gel cel holder. (hint hint) Sounds like a pretty nifty little device.   Help! - Strange Bug.

Hi All, I have recently completed construction of a Handyboard which passed all it's initial tests with the downloader, pcode and hbtest.c program, thanks to some help from Fred Martin, and I am now enjoying writting some programs for it.
