  QRD1114?

In the documentation for connecting sensors and actuators to the HB a The Quality Technologies IR reflective optosensors (QRD1114 & QRB1114) were depicted in the example and recommended. Where can these sensors be aquired? Thanks JTW (28 years ago, 5-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: IR sensors

(...) Sure. We put "Front" on digital(14) and "Right" on digital(15). And you can have as many as you want that don't interfere with each other. We did something like... contact = digital(14) * 2 + digital(15) to get both sensor results into an (...) (28 years ago, 5-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Extra power supply?

I can't seem to locate the 'how to add a second power supply for a servo' information. I know I read it once, but now that I want to go back and use it of course I can't find it. (duh) Can anyone point me in that direction? Also I could use any (...) (28 years ago, 4-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Handyboard debugging problem...

One of the student groups in my Lego robot course is having a problem getting their Handyboard to work...they got IC to load successfully, then went ahead and installed U6 ('HC138), U9 ('HC04), U5 ('HC244), resistor packs RP1 and RP2, and SW2. Now (...) (28 years ago, 4-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Sample bump sensor routine

whether you use analog or digital ins, you don't need the 47k pullup because the hb already has one. just wire the signal line to ground through the normally open switch. bill, i suggest you write your program without using the multitasking (...)   Re: Sample bump sensor routine

(...) Why would you use the analog ports for a bump sensor? Isn't that just a contact switch? Tie to a digital port pulled high with a 47K ohm resistor, and have the normally open contact tie the pin to ground when the contact switch is closed. The (...)   Sample bump sensor routine

I am having trouble writing a routine for my bump sensors. Evertime I write a program I can't get the analog ports to initialize. I guess this is where you would connect bump switches isn't it. I can get my bot to go forward, turn, and go backward (...) (28 years ago, 4-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  re:IR sensors

Hi everyone, i was wondering if it's possible to drive more than one infrared LED (emitter) through the handy board and IC. Has anyone tried doing before??? i want to model the wall-following behavior in my car, by using emitter-detector pairs on (...) (28 years ago, 3-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re[2]: Config 0C / 0D

Ed, Yes, I got round the problem by using the Newton labs IC 3.1 Beta, which does all the downloading itself. After a couple of tries, it told me that it had reset the config register. I never managed to change it with hbdl, and now I only use IC (...) (28 years ago, 3-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Hi folks a question about ic.

(...) In regular C, you just ask for what you want by declaring the convert in a statement like... Knob_value = knob(); How_much = float(knob_value); servo_deg(How_much); or save a variable with... Knob_value = knob; servo_deg(float(Knob_value)); (...) (28 years ago, 2-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Nevermind about that int to float question.

Duh- sorry I just realized that you just typecase the variable however you want it to be. Anyway- visit my hardware hacks page for a laugh if you have time. -Ira (28 years ago, 1-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Hi folks a question about ic.

Hi, is there some kind of integer to float call in ic? I am trying to write a test servo routine that takes the knob() value and turns the servo to that number of degrees using servo_deg() which takes a float. Any ideas? My board was just recenly (...)   Display

Hi- I'd like to separate my display from my handyboard and wire it via ribbon wire so I can view it remotely. Can I do this? How far away can I have the display from the board until it is unable to fully transmit a signal? Thanks, Mike Degon (28 years ago, 31-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Rating DC motors

I've got this old Radio Shack RC car that I want to use as a chassis for the HB I'm building. It is the same type car that the Mobot Lab used to build Tom and Jerry. I no longer have the box and I ripped the RC board out of it long ago. How can I (...) (28 years ago, 30-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Buncha bouncebacks

Sorry, there is nothing I can do about this short of compiling, installing, and configuring brand new mail list software from scratch. The mail list SW my lab provides is very primitive and can't do anything intelligent with bounces. I don't really (...) (28 years ago, 30-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Is 18V correct?

For the HB, when do you draw 500mA? When you put the interface on "Zap Charge", do you lower the voltage less that 12V? What about when you "trickle" it? Hihger that 12V? (...) (28 years ago, 29-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
