  Re: Problems with downloading

Tom: Your tests, specifically the fact that the HB's PWR LED comes on after download fails, demonstrate conclusively that the HB can *receive* data from your PC. This proves that the downloading software is able to open the serial port properly, and (...) (28 years ago, 23-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Problems with downloading

I'm trying to download the pcode_hb.s19 file to the handy board and I'm having a very hard time. I using win95 on a P5 and 200mhz. I setup the com port settings at 110 and no data flow. When I run the hbdl program and try to download the file I get (...) (28 years ago, 23-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  RE: dual servo update

(...) I use Futabas. The 32.768 mS interval is convenient because the 68HC11's 16-bit timer on a 2 MHz clock overflows at that time, allowing easier programming of the TOC functions. Has anyone found the upper limit on the time interval for Futaba (...) (28 years ago, 23-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: IC loop

Hi Wade, You can use the "seconds()" function which reports elapsed time, plus a variable to keep track of when the loop should end: void main() { float end_time; end_time= seconds() + 20.; /* go for 20 seconds */ while (seconds() < end_time) { /* (...)   IC loop

Hope someone can help, I have just written my first code for my bot. All I have done so far is make my bot go forward in about a 4 foot square area. I am now wanting to put a loop in the code so that it will continue for a certain length of time or (...) (28 years ago, 23-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  bipolar steppers

Was wondering if anyone has an alternate solution to stepping a bipolar stepper? Currently.... I'm using an H-Bridge (driver if you will) SAA1042 (by Motorla) which is then getting its pulses from 1 of the motor outs on the Handy Board. The (...)   RE: dual servo update

Mike writes : (...) The limit is specified by the product manufacturer. Futaba servos don't guarantee they will hold unless they see a pulse every 20mS. The Tower Hobbies servos are a bit more lenient. If you have the servo manufacturers data sheet, (...) (28 years ago, 22-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: LCD screen

(...) I ended up with a display that did this very thing (A Rolm display I think), and what I did was to cut the contrast lead coming out of the LED connector, and then solder a 20k pot to the GND, +5V, and Contrast leads so that I could vary the (...)   Re: LCD screen

Garth The contrast of the LCD can be adjusted. The third pin from the left side of the LCD, labeled VR on the HB is the contrast adjustment. You can cut this pin from the male header than connects to the HB. Solder a small trimmer pot with the wiper (...) (28 years ago, 22-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: LCD screen

I have seen cases where an LCD display was destroyed by excessive heat. I used to be in a car rallye club, and we had several timers destroyed by being left in a hot car. Could your board have been exposed to high temperatures during your travels? (...) (28 years ago, 22-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
