  More about DDK (was Re: Micro Scout can run off its own motor

Okay, here's another cool thing about the Droid Development Kit -- it includes a bunch of the new three-way bevel gears. I call them "three-way" bevel gears because they're like two bevel gears back-to-back with a normal gear in the middle. The (...) (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Quite useful too - I used the 20t gear in my (very simple) calipers which are now on the web: (URL) Those 4-stud-long gear rack thingies have 10 teeth each, and I wanted to get close to one increment on the rotation sensor per stud of (...) (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) (actual URL is (URL) ) (...) Those calipers are pretty cool. It seems to me though you could get more precision, since the slop on the gears is a lot less than half a stud. The rotation sensor presents very little friction torque, so I imagine (...) (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Geartrain tables (was Re: More about DDK (was Re: Micro Scout can run off its own motor

The new gear sizes inspired me so much that I created a huge listing of all gear ratios that can be created with the gear sizes now available and put it up on my web site: (URL) case you're wondering, this is useful mainly for building clocks that (...) (...) New gears... Excellent. Has anyone seen these gears in any other sets besides the Droid Kit? How about new technic service packs? Any listed in the newest Shop@home catalog? <ICS> -- Did you check the web site first?: (URL) (25 years ago, 6-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I got mine in the 8448 super car. They provide some of the five forward speeds in the gearbox. That's a sweet gearbox too... Cheers, - Ben. ---...--- Ben Williamson benw@pobox.com (URL) you check the web site first?: (URL) (25 years ago, 6-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: More about DDK (was Re: Micro Scout can run off its own motor

(...) That makes sense. With the two new sizes you end up with five different ratios that can be constructed with two gears at a 2-stud (16 millimeter) axle spacing: 8 <-> 24 1:3 ratio 12 <-> 20 1:1.4 ratio 16 <-> 16 1:1 ratio 20 <-> 12 1.4:1 ratio (...) Oops, I screwed two of those up. I should have said "1:1.67" and "1.67:1" ratios, in place of "1:1.4" and "1.4:1". (...) - Robert Munafo (URL) LEGO: TC+++(8480) SW++ #+ S-- LS++ Hsp M+ A@ LM++ YB64m IC13 (25 years ago, 7-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)
