Can I see pictures of those parts? I'd be interested if you are talking about clear-case motors.... (...) (21 years ago, 21-Aug-03, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) 3.0! 3.0!!! I just spent $200 buying 2.0, and you're telling me there's a 3.0??? Where's that receipt!?!! Seriously, though: I just bought, Tuesday, a RIS 2.0 set, my first RIS set. Is the 3.0 currently available? If not, when will it be (...) (21 years ago, 22-Aug-03, to lugnet.robotics)

Now that is freaking awesome - but do they supply the same amount of torque as the 'standard' ones do? Also, that gearbox 2, looks nice and all, might come in handy, but I prefer having more control over my placment of gears. I think it would be (...) (21 years ago, 22-Aug-03, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) power (...) What baffles me is why Lego never made a rotation sensor based on a potentiometer. It would be low cost (since it is passive) and offer much better resolution than the current rotation sensor for applications requiring <270 degrees (...) (...) Actually they provide more mechanical power than standard RIS motor, at the price of an increased consumption (almost doubled). More info soon in my motor comparison page ;o) Philo www.philohome.com (21 years ago, 22-Aug-03, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: RIS 3.0

I think gear blocks like that would be awesome. So long as they still follow standard lego units, they probably convey a lot of advantages over the standard gears. They can probably handle a boatload more torque, great for robots, especially arms, (...) (21 years ago, 23-Aug-03, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: RIS 3.0

(...) No - there is no "3.0". There was talk of it some time ago - but I think we've seen the last of decent Lego robotics sets. I'd very much like to be proved wrong though. I was rather suprised to see that in the latest Pitsco Dacta catalog, (...) (21 years ago, 23-Aug-03, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: RIS 3.0

(...) I don't know about RIS 3.0, but I disagree with you about the latest Pitco Dacta Catalog. I think the latest catalog is the best they have ever done. It places a lot of emphasis on Robotics.
