Re: A campaign for sun and planet gears

(...) ME TOO!!! (...) Yes, there are many other parts that we'd like Lego to create. Don't forget this old message and the responses it generated: (URL) were many ideas posted for new parts as well as modifications to existing parts. T. J. (...) I have a plan to go back over these posts and compile a list, perhaps to suggest that we could model some in LDRAW so we can see how they might work. What do people think? Psi (23 years ago, 27-Jun-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

It would be great if the spreadsheet (or whatever file the archive is on) would be available on Lugnet. While I'm thinking about it, I've got (...) Dah, I Thoufght the origional Idea of the Posting was to get Lego to make these parts!!! So I think the poster of a part Idea, would be estatic if Lego started making them. Yes there are legal issues, but in this situation, easily resolved. To Clear (...) (23 years ago, 28-Jun-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) That was definitely a long-term back-of-mind thought when I posted originally. I'm always aware that TLC read Lugnet and look at the Guarded Inn situation, it seems to work! (...) I certainly would, and I'd not be so crass as to take TLC to (...) (23 years ago, 28-Jun-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic, lugnet.cad, lugnet.general)

(...) If I suggested the part, I'd be VERY glad they made it, as it would probably already be "built" into many MOCs that couldn't be built without it. -- | Tom Stangl, iPlanet Web Server Technical Support | Netscape Communications Corp | A division (...) (...) IANAL, but it seems to me that: Most of the pieces that were mentioned in this thread (and other related threads) are simple modifications of existing pieces (make XYZW part shorter, separate ABCD into two pieces, remove the bump from 1234...)   Re: Legal ramifications of posting? (Was: Re: A campaign for sun and planet gears)

Your concern has merit. A posting on a news group could most definately be viewed a "prior art" and effectively prevent Lego from receiving a patent on the design. And from some of the Lego history I have viewed on the web they appear to be very (...) (23 years ago, 29-Jun-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic, lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

How about a new axle extender? This one would be almost the same but with no ribs on two opposite sides. This would allow a driving ring to slip easily so that a micromotor could be used to actuate it (if you rotated the driving ring 90 degrees you (...)
