  Re: Curved Feet

Your comment about the wheels is the main annoyance of the inflexibility I mentioned. Re beams: Heh, I had several of the old Expert Builder Sets so I had an overload of beams. I've been buying lots of parts trying to bring up my inventory of more (...) (24 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Struggling with encoder wheel

hi Chris, (...) That's in fact a good principle. Isn't it possible to improve the dynamic range of the light-sensor by taping the red LED, I read that somewhere but I don't know where. Why not use a continuous grayscale, with pure with and black (...) (24 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Problems with the scout

(...) Are you *sure* it didn't run? A program with just one instruction would run in less than a thousandth of a second - you might not notice! (24 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Amiga Software

(...) It's not especially posix, but you can open a file named "SER:" with fopen and read and write to it that way. It's quite simple. (...) If you have trouble getting it going, shout. I have a working 3000/060 still, and the SAS C++ compiler. I (...) (24 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: two RC servo motor interface to the RCX

hi, (...) Ok, I dont know anything about servo's, but your schematics and explanations looks good. (Very well documented, nice work) (...) How can an indivudual compete with a "design group" ? The steam-engine and the Stirling motor are also far (...) (24 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: two RC servo motor interface to the RCX

(...) Please don't get the wrong impression - my "design group" is me doing embedded systems design and my wife doing architectural illustration. I guess two people is a group...:-) Cheers Ralph (24 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Pneumatic Pump Testing Goes Hi Tech

Would be glad to compare notes. Directly I have finished the tests I'll get back to you. (...) (24 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic, lugnet.build, lugnet.dacta)

Re: Motor with Gear Reduction ??!??

Re: two RC servo motor interface to the RCX

(...) Thanks for the link to your page. That was what i am looking for. Just an alternative for that problem. Brilliant pages! One reason for me, using a PIC microntroller in two of my designs was, that if i manage to implement the serial interface, (...) (24 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Struggling with encoder wheel

(...) I did an experiment printing out many different gradients and I now understand part of your problem. It was hard to get any change in the reading (~40 - 50). So next I then cut a wedge shaped slit in a piece of white paper. Aiming the sensor (...) (24 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Struggling with encoder wheel

As I am not so purist, I think that an angle sensor based on a small potentiometer (There's a description on Michael Gaspari's site) would be the simplest solution... But your absolute encoder is a challenge in itself! What about using two (...) (24 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Motor with Gear Reduction ??!??

(...) Two, one on each side. I've not looked inside, but they seem comparable to the gear motor in the RIS. Jürgen (24 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Team Challenge vs RIS1.5

Does anyone know the physical differences between the ROBOLAB Team Challenge Set from Dacta and the ROBOTICS INVENTION SYSTEM 1.5? Both sets have: 1 RCX 2 Motors 2 Touch Sensors 1 Light Sensor The Team Challenge set has 715 pieces, RIS1.5 has 717. (...) (24 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Orthogonal Robot Drive

I have put up a web page with some pictures of my orthogonal drive robot. You can find it here: (URL) others have built this kind of robot I would be interested to hear from you. Cheers, Tom. (24 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Struggling with encoder wheel

(...) That was the first version of the webcam mount. After rotating back and forth a few times you can't tell where the camera is anymore. There also aren't any 42 tooth gears BTW, just a 40. Last night I used the datalog to record what the light (...) (24 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Problems with the scout

Are you using a version of RCX Command Center that supports the Scout? The original RCXCC did not support Scout and only the recent updates made by others have added Scout support. I have just started using the version put out by John Hansen and it (...) (24 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Robowarriors

I've now pretty much finished the Lego Robowarriors web-site. It's meant to be a place to find everything you want to know about Lego robot combat -- Robot Wars/Battlebots with Lego. I'm trying to build a comprehensive database of peoples' Lego (...) (24 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Struggling with encoder wheel

(...) I have noticed the lost count phenomenon also (you attribute it to gear slop on you web page, but gear slop will give you errors in the 1/2 a tooth range or less and it doesn't get worse over time). In fact there was a very long thread about (...) (24 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Receiving IR data

Hi there, I'm new to the group, so I'm not too sure what's on and off topic: if this is off-topic, sorry in advance. I was looking at using the IR tower that comes with Mindstorms for my own use, but I also wanted to experiment using it to (...) (24 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)
