I just ordered a RIS 1.5 and can't wait until I get it.

First of all, thanks for the great information (especially Steve Baker)
You guys really know your stuff.

The RIS 1.5 arrived today, so did my Droid kid and my Vision Command.
It took me about 2 hours to build R2D2 (I needed to have it since I'm a big
fan of R2D2).
The Lego Cam's software is so cool, that I couldn't believe that I've never
heard of it before (spied on my wife when she entered my room while I was
watching tv :>).

And the RIS, I just build the starter bot to go through the demo, then I
downloaded RCXCC and the NQC tutorial.
I figured there is no need in learning the RCX Code from Lego other then the
tutorial on the CD, it gives me the basic understanding of that code.

I cheated a little today, because it's getting late already, so I copied and
pasted some of the programs from NQC tutorial into the RCXCC to see if it
works and it did work.
At least I have learned that every program starts with a "task" that is
called "main", wow uhhhhh, Hello World, here I come.
I have no idea how long it will take me to learn the basics of NQC, so I can
write a small program without cheating.
As I said before, I know about programming as much as I did about Lego just
a day ago (nothing, njente, nada, nichts, zero)
As soon as I've learned some commands in NQC and how they are spelled (upper
case, lower case and or a mix of both), I will try to go through Lego's
challenges by using NQC instead.

Why is this done this way, that you have to type "OnFwd" and (OUT_A)
only that specific way and not like: "onfwd" or ONFWD"?,
it would make it so much easier for a beginner and since english is not my
native language, I already have trouble enough to write regular sentences.
;>) ;>)

Ohhh, by the way, am I in the right NG of Lugnet to ask such basic questions
and tell you guys about my excitement or should I post any related question
about NQC to that specific NG?

(...) (Your English is *excellent* - no need to apologise) Well, this is something that programmers have 'grown up with' and are rarely forced to reflect upon...but since you ask. For people like me who have been writing C code for nearly 30 (...) (24 years ago, 16-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)
A big hail to all of you.

Thanks again for clearing this up, now I understand the reason behind it, why there is a certain way how you write code (and it makes sense too) I hope in a year from now I can write code in NQC at least as efficient as I can write an email in (...) (24 years ago, 18-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Hi there, I maid have some stupid questions (even if there is no such thing, only stupid answers exist), but I want to start my search of knowledge from the very beginning. I just ordered a RIS 1.5 and can't wait until I get it. I'm completely new (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)
