If you open up the computer, you should be able to push them back into place
from the back of the connector. However, once they get displaced like that,
it'll happen more and more often. In the end, you'll have to push the tower
cable into the back of the machine with the lid off and then push the errant
pins back out from the inside every time you plug something in.
If you only *ever* use the Lego tower in that socket - and never use the
tower anywhere else then plug it in an *leave it* ! If you need to plug
and unplug frequently then you'll need to replace the connector on the
back of the PC.
I guess you could try pushing the pins out and stuffing a wad of epoxy
in behind each one to try to hold it...but I doubt that would be terribly
reliable.
Don't blame Lego though - your computer manufacturer used a cheap and
nasty connector on the PC.

I doubt it. The new RIS 2.0 set is reputed to have a USB tower - so
perhaps once that gets to be commonplace, you'll be able to drive your
tower that way with the 2.0 software. I kinda doubt it though.
