I have been using R/C airplane fuel line as an alternative to the Lego
tubing. Its made of a different material and has a slightly larger
O.D., but the I.D. is good, it fits well, and hasn't popped off (with
moderate use). I'm not sure how well it holds up under long-term heavy
use.
There are several different brands (I bought "Blue Line" by Aerotrend),
but they all seem to be compatible. You bought the "small" size (which
I believe is 5/64" ID, 3/64" wall) silicone fuel line. It retails for
$2 for a 3ft piece. Probably much cheaper in bulk (e.g. 50ft spool).
The exact part # was #1001 by Aerotrend, but as I said before, there are
several different brands, all of which should be fine.

| I know I've seen someone suggest a non-LEGO source for tubing compatible with LEGO pneumatics, but after half and hour of searching through past posts I can't locate it (so sorry for any repitition). I have tried auto parts stores (vacuum tubing -- (...) (24 years ago, 1-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)
