  Sensors

Hi, I have a RCX 1.5 and would like to have some information. 1) Is it correct that only port 2 can be use for the light sensor ? 2) And only ports 1 and 3 for the touch-sensors ? Can I use microswitches and some resistors to make an array which i (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Two more for the wish list

A few months ago I built a model of two synchronized metering pumps, one for nitro-goo and one for glycerine-goo. The idea was to have both pumps synchronized. I did it with a differential and a rotation sensor to mark the difference and a (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Two more for the wish list

(...) Yes - but if you've been following the discussions about dropped counts, you'll know that the standard rotation sensor is pretty inaccurate when you set it up like that. It likes nice *fast* rotation rates. (25 years ago, 28-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Two more for the wish list

Matthias, this is easy to do without a new part. You use a normal differential, put one shaft in one side, the other shaft (but reversed) in the other and connect the rotation sensor to the output. You get a positive count if the right wheel is (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

LEGO Solar Cell (Was 'Re: New Pitsco Catalog')

The solar cell is included in the LEGO Dacta eLAB Renewable Energy Set (#979681; Pitsco 2001 page 50), and is clearly pictured being used to power a standard 9V LEGO motor with internal gear reduction, in a simple tri-wheel mobile platform. The (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: New Pitsco Catalog

(...) While I can't see it being used for Lego, given the current required to run the motors, I have built solar powered vehicles which use a solar cell and a high-value/low voltage capacitor. These are frequently sold under the (improper) (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Two more for the wish list

I've noticed that there is considerable discussion in various groups regarding the problem of getting a robot to move in a straight line. Here's something for the LEGO wish list I haven't seen mentioned before: A DIFFERENTIAL rotation sensor Mount (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I tried to use Solar panels for power the RCX. No go. It needs a lot of amps to power it and solar is not big on amps... As a light sensor it's incredible fast. Dean -- Coin-Op's For Sale!: (URL) Lego Workshop: (URL) Lego Club: (URL) (25 years ago, 28-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

There's lots of stuff in the Pitsco product line for energy-related training for schools. Check out: (URL) I wonder too if anyone uses it for robotics power sources. I also wonder if it's any good as a light sensor. Jerry (...) (25 years ago, 27-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  New Pitsco Catalog

I got the new Pitsco 2001 catalog in the mail today, and noticed that there's a LEGO solar panel available. Is this a new product? I was under the impression that LEGO didn't make a solar panel.
