Re: Opening RCX Code programs in Web Browser gives text

(...) it surprised me, since i dind't know that rcx code was text... (robolab sure isn't text) and yes, i realize that the browser has no lego-awareness and that a similar effect can be seen with some text editors. i still think its cool. (...) yeah (...)   Re: batteries? RCX/CYBERMASTER

(...) Here are some battery related: How many mA does the Tower Unit consume? How many mA does the Mobile Unit consume with both internal motors and the external active? Would a 7809 (and a couple of capacitors) stabilize the voltage safe enough? (...) (25 years ago, 17-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Opening RCX Code programs in Web Browser gives text

(...) That is not very surprising, as RCX Code is text. So there is no LEGO-awareness in the browser. (...) Yes, they did the right thing using text for storage of programs. Jürgen (25 years ago, 17-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: vision command idea...

(...) Many kinds of construction equpiment actually use unsprung suspensions, so I think this is a sane approach. A telescopic handler, for example, needs to be able to lift many different kinds of weights, hence it cannot have the kind of (...) (25 years ago, 17-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Opening RCX Code programs in Web Browser gives text

I should add that this was Internet Explorer 5.5. I just discovered that this does not work with Netscape... although maybe there is some setting that you can do to make it happen. Of course, I could always link the .rcx extension with launching (...) (25 years ago, 17-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Opening RCX Code programs in Web Browser gives text

I don't know if this has already been discovered a dozen times before (I would search to find out, but the text search cgi is down!)... but I just found something cool. If you put a link to any RCX Code program with a .rcx extension in a web browser (...) (25 years ago, 17-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: Firmware file version?

Regarding the firmware checksumming, firmdl3 did not do that correctly, nor did it support any of the latest firmware files (0325, 0328), complaining because they were too large. I made the necessary changes to fix these problems. You can grab the (...) (25 years ago, 16-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Firmware file version?

(...) I don't know what Dave Baum may or may not have said, but here is the ROM's algorithm for computing the checksum: short offset = 0 byte validstr = 0 short sum = 0 for (addr = 8000; addr < cc00; addr++) sum += byte at addr if (byte at addr == (...)   Re: Can the cybermaster tower talk to the Scout

  RE: Firmware file version?

(...) The new firmware is a lot larger. The last address in the old fw file is 0xBFFO, and in the new file it's 0xE160. More than a little past 0xCC0. :) I wonder what Lego does to make the download work.... Greg Betzel (25 years ago, 16-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Can the cybermaster tower talk to the Scout

Quick question: Can I use the control tower from the cybermaster (8482) to program the Scout? Thanks Christian (25 years ago, 16-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Firmware file version?

(...) Way back when, I think I remember Dave Baum posting a note to the effect that the firmware checksum calculation stops around 0xCC00, which is where the firmware variables live. The old firmware was smaller than this, but the new firmware image (...) (25 years ago, 16-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Firmware file version?

Hello again, Does anyone know what the checksum is for downloading firm0328.lgo (the checksum to pass to the RCX begin-download call)? I've been doing some experimenting with firmware downloading.   Re: vision command idea...
