  Re: 2 motors, different speeds

You can put rotation sensors on each wheel, and then monitor them for changes. If one gets ahead of another, then slow that motor down. This works well, but differences in the wheels cause it to turn slightly. Andy (...) (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Ball-less mice (was :Re: FW: Another DIY sensor)

(...) I can confirm this, at least for the US market; I just bought the Logitech optical wheel mouse, and it was $30 at Fry's in Campbell, California. (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Lego Mindstorms Europe Demo Tour

Hi all, (...) no problem with that. BUT ! We took part at the Lego VisionCommand 2000 Competition in Germany. We build an synchrodrive without lego turntables. The Lego chief engineer (don't remember the name, Steven ?????) toke a look at it an was (...) (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Lego Mindstorms Europe Demo Tour

(...) I suspect the custom pieces that make their way into sets began life as a modification of an existing part. After all, I doubt they wanted to make a custom mold until they were certain it did what they wanted it to. John A. Tamplin (...) (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: 2 motors, different speeds

(...) Yes I think you're expecting too much. :) Two "identical" motors will go at a *similar* speed if set to the same power level, but chances of them going at the *same* speed is highly unlikely. Bryan (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Mindstorms book

  2 motors, different speeds

I have two motors set to the same power levels, but one is always going slightly faster than the other. I've tried it at different power levels but still the same result. Am I expecting too much for them to go at the exact same speeds? Or am I (...) (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Ball-less mice (was :Re: FW: Another DIY sensor)

The optical mice that do not require a special tablet to operate all use the same sensor, made by Agilent (formaly HP). It is the HDNS2000. The spec can be found here: (URL) this thing has 2 types of output: - PS/2 (connects directly to a PC) (used (...) (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: R2-D2 with RXC

Hi ! I did it ! It was very difficult 'cos info from the Lego WebSite are poor. By inspecting picture on many angles, I understood some tips. So, If you're in trouble, I shall send you from pics from my digital camera. My robot is not perfect but (...) (25 years ago, 25-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Which Palm?

Time for me to stop lurking. I've written a few Palm applications, and have an RCX, and indeed I was the person who both deciphered the IR protocol that the Furby uses to talk to other toys, and built a laser-emitting LEGO brick: (URL) would love to (...)   Mindstorms book

Hi, I bought Dave Baum's on an impuls and now regret it. I don't know about the o'Reilly book, but this one is especially weak on models. Main reason to buy it would be to learn NQC, but there are more sources for that... Duq (25 years ago, 22-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  A better sound sensor

Techno-stuff is pleased to announce their new musical pitch sensor. This Lego-compatible sensor returns a value based on the frequency or pitch of the sound it hears. The sensor has been optomized for use with a flute or recorder, and also responds (...) (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Firmware file version?

I don't know what version 0325 is, but as far as I know, only two versions of the firmware have shipped with Lego sets so far. Both the 1.0 and 1.5 RIS sets, plus all add-on sets (RoboSports, Extreme Creatures, Mars) ship with the original firmware. (...) (25 years ago, 27-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Firmware file version?

(...) It is not from a set if I remember correctly. I think I downloaded it from Lego's Mindstorms web page once upon a time. The readme says it is from "RCX2 SDK PRE ALPHA, PATCH 3." The date given is April 17, 2000. -Kekoa (25 years ago, 27-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)
