Re: What to purchase first? —Richard Hamilton
(...) I agree with John Matthews. Get a Mindstorms set first, then dump RIS and download NQC. I would also recommend Dave Baum's book Definitive Guide to Lego Mindstorms.         Re: What to purchase first? —Randy Trotter
As a beginner also, I have a quick question. Where is a good source for kits and spare parts. I have looked at EBay, but question the quality.       I believe I've seen a gearbox housing that holds a worm gear set more efficiently than building one up with beams and blocks. Does anyone know the part number of this gearbox housing, and where you can order it? Or, what kit has the most of them in (...) (24 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: What to purchase first? —Jürgen Stuber
(...) It all depends on the price. Space shuttle (8480) is a good set with a lot of pieces, but don't expect too much from the motors, IMHO they are not very useful.
