No there's not reason to restrict it.  However with only three inputs the
RCX is pretty limited, Keeeping track of your position, Your Opponents
Position and the Lines position is a lot of input.  That's why the simple
"Touch 'em and they die" rule appeals, the judgescan do all the hard work
and the bots only have to run in a straight line towards the the opponent
(or away from) and bounce off the walls. Note: there's no reason why the
"arena" can't be arbitrarily complex, say like someones living room floor.

Hmm... instead of making it arbitrarily complex, why not make it
extremely simple- say, a square of pre-defined size where each robot starts
in on corner, parallel to an edge? This would allow a measurement of
location (and thus a determination of in or out) by measuring how far in
x and y one has traveled (though, since I don't have my set yet, I'm not
exactly sure how easy or had this may be.) That would (hopefully) save an
input, correct?
Luis
P.S. can we attach a light to the doughnut, or is that cheating?
