Re: Finding "real" upgrade sets and flex axles on eBay

Hi Liz B, The movie you tried to download is a 3.3meg MOV quicktime movie. Did you have trouble with the download or playing the movie. I could send it to you in an Email if your mail will accept a large file. Let me know. rfay@attbi.com -- Bob Fay (...) (23 years ago, 11-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Finding "real" upgrade sets and flex axles on eBay

I've noticed some that buy and turn around and resell the Mindstorms sets on eBay (I'm trying to figure how they profit!). But I have also noticed some, who like me, must be buying for classrooms. There were several auctions where I kept bidding (...) (23 years ago, 11-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Microscout assembly?

The only thing that comes to mind is that the metal strips are acting like brushes to connect the power to the commutator of the motor. I opened one of mine and fear restrained me from entering too far. The battery connections are direct to the PC (...) (23 years ago, 11-May-02, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.microscout)

Re: Finding "real" upgrade sets and flex axles on eBay

Liz, I was going to post a statement about everybody winning on my first post, but I couldn't word it nicely so I left it off. I should have tried harder. I noticed there seems to be someone on eBay buying out Robotics Discovery Sets. I think he's (...) (23 years ago, 11-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Microscout assembly?

One day, while there was nothing to do, I took apart my Microscout (came with the R2D2 droid development kit, or whatever). I had no idea how the motor assembly was connected to the rest of the unit, so this was probably a bad idea. Anyway, I took (...)   Re: Finding "real" upgrade sets and flex axles on eBay

(Forgive if this posts twice; got an error.) Sorry, didn't mean to come off so disgruntled. Just kinda bent with Lego at the moment. I end up scouring eBay and BrickLink for parts I ought to be able to buy from them. I'm in the middle of counting (...) (23 years ago, 11-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Finding "real" upgrade sets and flex axles on eBay

I didn't say anything was wrong with it. You win, someone who wants an extra RCX wins, someone who wants a pile of technic parts wins, and the seller wins! Even Lego wins, because they sold another Mindstorms system. Lego could win more by giving us (...) (23 years ago, 11-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Finding "real" upgrade sets and flex axles on eBay

(Accidentally replied to the poster, rather than the group earlier.) Yes, I understand what is being done... However, I already have 6 RIS 1.5 sets, complete with RCXs and tons of extra stuff, plus four 2.0 RCXs, so I didn't want the whole kit. The (...) (23 years ago, 11-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: [ANN] pbForth Version 2.1.3 Release

Thanks, it seems to work much better now. Very quick turn-around time, I appreciate that. You've done an excellent job putting this Forth together, thank you for your efforts. David (...) (23 years ago, 10-May-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

Re: What about this for a new RCX 2.5 setup?

Oh, and I forgot one of the "BIGGEST" wishes on the list: 5) Linksys wireless access port response rather than the directional IR port. Or at least SOME form of 900MHz+ communication that is non-directional, with higher bandwidth (who knows...maybe (...) (23 years ago, 10-May-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

What about this for a new RCX 2.5 setup?

Seems to me that the BEST implementation of the RCX would be for some CORE changes and feature sets to be built in. I realize that these would be somewhat expensive, but I would pay pretty good money to have an RCX with the following specs (built (...) (23 years ago, 10-May-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Cybor

Hello all ! I want to know if somebody has tried to connect succesfully the light and ultrasound sensors from the Cybor robot to RCX. (www.realrobots.co.uk) Thanks in advance Andres Alonso alogon@teleline.es (23 years ago, 10-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: egcs compiler - float problems?

(...) I have not tried to compile this, but one thing that looks suspicious is that you are using doubles. Doubles are not supported. The compiler I have (some old version of GCC) treats doubles and floats as the same type. The compiler you're using (...) (23 years ago, 10-May-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Re: Finding "real" upgrade sets and flex axles on eBay

I've seen those. I think what someone does is buys a mindstorms set, and breaks it up into these parts: - 2.0 upgrade stuff (CD, IR tower, instructions, and test pad) ($20 to $40) - RCX ($80 to $100) - Non-electric stuff (the legos) ($50 to $75) I (...)   [ANN] pbForth Version 2.1.3 Release

The new 2.1.3 Version of pbForth has only minor fixes thanks to the investigative efforts of David Rojas and Rob Harvey. They were able to provide detailed, reproducible bug reports, which makes fixing bugs so much easier. Thanks guys! Here's what (...)   Re: New MOC: RoboArm I

(...) I agree with your opinions of the flex axles, they dont turn smoothly, and if there is any slack the flex axles sometimes bend in on themselves before turning the axle. I found the best way to use them is to keep the amount of bend to a minium (...) (23 years ago, 10-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Finding "real" upgrade sets and flex axles on eBay

I've bought the upgrade software from Lego (5 copies in fact @ $20 plus shipping a pop) and I've bought "upgrade kits" or "upgrade sets" on eBay for around $40, plus shipping. These "sets" are not that common, but not rare, either, and include the (...) (23 years ago, 10-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  egcs compiler - float problems?

Can someone using the egcs compiler suite test the following code? It seems it doesn't compile under egcs. int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { double foo = 1.0; return foo > 0.1 ? 0 : 1; } Compiles fine under gcc 3.0.3. Regards, Michael (23 years ago, 10-May-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)
