I've noticed some that buy and turn around and resell the Mindstorms
sets on eBay (I'm trying to figure how they profit!). But I have also
noticed some, who like me, must be buying for classrooms. There were
several auctions where I kept bidding against the same guy.
I have to say my local Tuesday Morning (don't know what states they're
in) have Extreme Creatures and RoboSports for $18.99 a set. I'm
agonizing over RoboSports (they have six sets) because it comes with a
motor, lead, and 90 parts, plus a Constructopedia and several
challenges I think the kids would love. But I would have to get all
six sets, I think, to let the whole class do it at once.
And I'm agonizing over what parts to discard -- no beams, of course!!!
But I have a bunch of small parts that I've gotten in with various lots
I've bought and can't see any purpose to keeping them. Very
specialized parts, I think, from regular Lego sets perhaps. I'm just
trying to keep Mindstorms, Technic, and general Lego pieces.
I may just keep the weird small parts separated in baggies in a tub,
just in case, someday in the distant future, there's a use for them.
Knowing my track record with non-Lego items, you don't need it until
you get rid of it.
BTW, I teach homeschoolers, and I know groups like ours would just love
to have someone with experience come give some hints or help coach.
You could contact your local homeschool groups or schools, you'd be
surprised how many are so open to help with high tech. I held my class
open for one month, and we have 18. Many more have expressed interest,
and more said they'll join in the fall. But, unless there's a mass
exodus, we aren't opening the class for enrollment again until NEXT May.

| Hi Liz B, The movie you tried to download is a 3.3meg MOV quicktime movie. Did you have trouble with the download or playing the movie. I could send it to you in an Email if your mail will accept a large file. Let me know. rfay@attbi.com -- Bob Fay (...) (23 years ago, 11-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)
