  Re: Scout secrets revealed

(...) I don't have the Scout, but I have a funny feeling that the Micro Scout may also respond to these commands when it is in that "P" mode. Could somebody verify this? Thanks, Hao-yang Wang (26 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Cat by the tail!

My school principal walked by a display of one of my grade 12 students showing one of his Mindstorms creations. He was so impressed he approached my department head about providing funding for 5 additional RIS sets. I don't think he realizes that (...) (26 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.edu)

  Re: MindFest: videos, photos, report

This was the brick grabber, it scans for black bricks and throws them off the table. It has one set of wheels at right angles to the other and it would raise or lower one set. Lowered, they're in contact and you go in the nominal x direction, (...) (26 years ago, 1-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.robotics)

How to get Dacta #9633 Pneumatics Set

Many people have asked how to get the Advanced Pneumatics Set (#9633) and the Technology Resource Set (#9609). These are Lego DACTA sets and not the regular Technic sets, aimed at the educational market. They are normally only sold to schools and (...)   idiot's guide to programming the rcx

Can anyone tell me the EASIEST alternate programming language to use for the rcx. I mean, back in the days of BASIC, I was one of my state's top student programmers. But that was in the eighties. (26 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Time available during 1 kHz system interrupt?

Hi Greg, It all depends. Various features of the HB can be turned on and off to change the amount of work done in the main ISR. By default the code uses 300ms to execute. The file lib_hb.c provides the following: /***...***/ /*** System Interrupt (...) (26 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Help needed reviving my HB

Hi Everybody, Ensio, I'm having a very similyar problem, but with an interesting twist! Check this out! I still don't have any idea what is going on here... None of these have expansion cards. I have 5 HB's from when this robotics class was taught 2 (...) (26 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: walker that turns?

(...) <De-lurk> What about making the legs on one side take shorter steps? Seems like the Imperial Walkers were pretty clumsy beasts, and a slow-plodding turn like this would be appropriate. My $0.02... - Christian <Lurk> (26 years ago, 1-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: walker that turns?

It's fairly simple with a tripod gait. First, get it working walking forward ... watch how it walks until you understand what is happening. Then reverse the action to get your 'bot to walk backwards. Watch it for awhile more. Now to turn left have (...) (26 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Help needed reviving my HB

Hello Edward and everyone, There are several causes that the Handyboard won't boot. 1) 62256 SRAM was dea 2) 74HC244 was dead 3) The Handyboard cannot put into bootstrap mode You can try to do the followings: Removes all the ICs on Handyboard except (...)   Re: idiot's guide to programming the rcx

(...) The almost universal answer to the question "what is the best/easiest alternative programming language for the RCX" is three little letters: "NQC."   Re: Help needed reviving my HB

Hello, Sorry, I made a mistake. "74HC244 was dead" should be read as "74HC373 was dead" This is the one soldered on the board directly without socket. It is located underneath the SRAM. Removing all ICs except 74HC132, 62256 SRAM, and MC68HC11 CPU (...) (26 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: ABC News coverage of "Astronaut Companion" Robot

Not to be a nudge back at you, but I believe that they DO use fans. The information that I saw regarding these gave me the impression that they were for INSIDE the spacecraft.   Re: Time available during 1 kHz system interrupt?

Interesting discussion but it raises a few more questions. Are there any (bad) side effects when user code that is inserted in the ISR takes longer to execute than the 1 msec interrupt cycle. From experience it appears that the ISR runs on the next (...) (26 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: How to get Dacta #9633 Pneumatics Set
