Yes, they are called Tail Draggers because it appears that they are
dragging their tails, not because they actually do.
Tail Draggers are harder to take off in, you have to do a series of S
turns in order to actually see down the runway. And they have an
unfortunate tendency to do noseovers where if you put the brakes on too
hard the prop starts trying to do a roto-tiller imitation.
Supposedly they are easier to land because their stall speed is lower. I
think.

Only a mild buff so I could be all wet. Want to get my ticket someday,
though.
Planes I have actually been at the controls of while in flight:
- Cessna 152, 172, some random 17x with mudfield wheels and glacier skis
- Piper Cub, Commanche Twin <-fastest of the bunch, will do 190 knots. A
sportscar.
- Beechcraft Bonanza
- DeHaviland Beaver float plane <- hands down the coolest plane of them.
A truck.
Note that being at the controls while in flight is a LOT easier than
taking off. I took off in the Comanche, once.
Note that landing is a LOT harder than taking off. I've never landed one
yet.
