5928 - Biwing Baron
Again, a great biplane model (though not as nice as 5909's).  Usually at decent
price.  Pick this one up before the inferior 5925-Pontoon Plane crowds it off
of the shelves.  Note: I do like the Pontoon Plane but it isn't as good as the
biwing baron

I have to disagree with you here, Joseph. The only thing I like about
the Biwing Baron is the "rotary" engine ( a pity lego didn't make it
actually rotate, though it's the work of only a minute or two to make it
do so). The pontoon plane is a much better plane model, IMHO. Why?
Well...

PP has a realistic underside (no gigantic floats like Lego sometimes
uses), compared to the BB's wildly oversized wheels and tailplane that
drags on the ground.

PP has a decent cockpit with a joystick, compared to BB's gaping hole
too far back in the fuselage

PP has a large enough space below the upper wing for the pilot to
actually see through, and a windscreen, compared to the BB's tiny slot
filled with 2 clear 1x2's

BB's armament is dopey - how is he going to fire those rifles on the
lower wings? And he has to stand up to fire the ones on the top wing.

BB has flames along the side of the fuselage, jsut right for setting the
whole thing on fire.

BB's rotary engine doesn't rotate.

PP has a way better parts selection - three black roof half pyramids, 2
1x2x2 plane windows, tan bricks, and a clear 1x2x1 thinwall.

I'd be interesed to know why you like the BB so much better!

Kevin

I'm really enjoying the Adventurer's theme (though the '98 sets are considerably better than the '99 sets in my opinion). Here are the top models (again in my opinion): 5909 - Treasure Raiders Really just a minifig pack but the biplane and car are (...) (25 years ago, 21-Sep-99, to lugnet.adventurers, lugnet.reviews)
