That is so cool.  That's what I thought Lego should've done with their
dinosaurs originally.  I'm excited! (I'm sure I expressed that in an earlier
post, but I'm too lazy to find it)  That's in true spirit of Lego IMHO if we
can dwiddle around with the pieces to form our own Jurassic critters.  I
personally think those museum guys take alot of artistic license anyway.

I had mixed feelings about movie/book licensing with Lego.  Now I'm really
for it.  Look at all the new parts and minifig variations Lego gave us to
accomodate the movies.  Didn't you grow weary of the same hairdo on every
female fig?  I never feel obligated to keep Luke Skywalker or any of his
wonderful toys in their original form anyway.  I think by getting licenses,
Lego is forced to make really quality cool stuff.  Did any of the Star Wars
guys have microphones on their faces?  Yippee!

I think Jurassic Park 3 is a better license than Harry Potter, but I can
picture alot cooler sets for JP, unless they do the HP train.  When they get
a good 9V Steam Locomotive you can deal me into trains.

The larger dinos are *definitely* much larger than the Adventurers dinos.  I
was a little disappointed at first with the Juniorised feel of the sets, but
as I studied the images I realised that, in fact, the same pieces (esp. the
body pieces) were used in multiple ways in the different models.  In fact, the
typical larger dino body was, in fact, two of the same piece, connected at the
middle!  It's hard to explain without pictures, but when you see them it'll
make sense.

At any rate, as I kept looking at the pictures I became more and more happy
with these sets.  I imagine they will be popular with anyone who wants to make
big "monsters" to terrorise minifigs (or other scale LEGO figs), from Castle
builders to Space builders to sadistic Town builders who watched too many
monster movies as a kid.  :D

I'm fairly interested in seeing what can be done with them.

So, obviously nearly everyone has already seen the images that appeared on
brickshelf and disappeared no later. I am really surprised that nobody has
made them available at a different server. However, many people seem to
remember the contents of these images.

Well, to make it easier for everyone else to imagine what these dinosaurs
look like, here's a scan of the most important new elements:
http://www.brickmaster.de/dino/dino_6719.jpg
It's no retailer image or anthing like that, so I don't think it's any
problem to put that one up. It's more than unfair that a few people already
own these sets while others are not even allowed to see pictures of them, geez!

Although these new large dinosaurs are not very LEGO-like (they hardly have
studs etc.), it's still very fun to play with them. You can combine the
pieces in many different ways and build lots of different creatures with'em.
However, you can only use them to build something that looks liek a
Dinosaur! You can no more use these elements to build anything else that
comes to your mind, nothing but different dinosausrs - and that really gets
boring after a while!

Oh, BTW: the dinosaur shown on that image is not one of the JP3 ones,
although the JP3 sets will contain one of the larger ones as well, probably
in grey (as well as three smaller ones, for that matter). Since these two
sets will be part of the Studios line, they will come with classic minifigs
as well as some neat other stuff (such as a typical LEGOish airplane, a
large brown trunk and other things)...

Hopefully, the mysterious retailer images will be out in consumer-format
soon, which should make it a lot easier for us to talk about these things.

Bye, Christian --- xTIAN.
