Confederation of Planets to begin major site overhaul

The Confederation of Planets webpage has had some problems. Cross links to old layouts and the current layout have forced me to shut the entire site down and revamp the entire thing. Thanks to the support of J. Irvine and his site layout, he ahs (...) (24 years ago, 14-Aug-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, lugnet.build, lugnet.publish)

  Re: www.fibblesnork.com still active?

(...) Bummer. Well, these backgrounds are very useful to many. I've been getting a free ride from them for years. I would pitch in some cash to pay for hosting if it came to that as would others I suspect. (...) the content if you were ranking (...) (24 years ago, 3-Aug-01, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: www.fibblesnork.com still active?

(...) I mentioned this to Todd a few days ago. He thought his account may have been shut off. I haven't heard anything else. his personal site is also gone: (URL) to the FLGuide can be re-aimed at this duplicate: (URL) (24 years ago, 3-Aug-01, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: www.fibblesnork.com still active?

(...) Well, if indeed some of this content has gone offline, that's too bad, but understandable. Todd has been providing it to the community for years, at his own expense, and no one can expect a free thing to last forever. I'm just glad (and very (...) (24 years ago, 3-Aug-01, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: www.fibblesnork.com still active?

(...) Apparently lots has moved or gone off-line. A couple of weeks ago I made a post that the random set name generator, formerly at (URL) was no longer there, but didn't get any response. At that point, other Fibblesnork content was still active. (24 years ago, 3-Aug-01, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: www.fibblesnork.com still active?

(...) I don't get it on my browser either. (...) I haven't heard of anything. -Shiri (24 years ago, 3-Aug-01, to lugnet.publish)

  www.fibblesnork.com still active?

Part of the Fibblesnork(tm) site content (the set guide, the ratings, the info on auctions, the legal info, etc.) was moved to LUGNET(tm) a while back... I, and many others I am sure, use the Fibblesnork background images, in large part because (...) (24 years ago, 3-Aug-01, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Reliable Web Host

I use Xeran (www.xeran.com) for mine. From what I can tell, it seems to kick Pair's butt around the block when it comes to features/price. There's no bandwidth cap and it sounds like they could handle a couple of slashdots a day without breaking a (...) (24 years ago, 2-Aug-01, to lugnet.publish)

  RE: Reliable Web Host

www.dellz.com is the cheapest I've found, especially for the options available. The support is quick, but they're still getting started so there have been some bumps along the way. I haven't been with them long enough to see how reliable they are. (...) (24 years ago, 31-Jul-01, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Reliable Web Host

(...) I checked out Pair.com and it looks pretty good. I think I can satisfy my requirements with their most basic service. There are so many webhosting companies out there, it's hard to choose. Thanks for the advice. T. J. (24 years ago, 31-Jul-01, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Reliable Web Host

(...) Well I don't know how much (if anything) you are willing to spend but several AFOL's have their sites hosted at pair networks www.pair.com in fact that is where LUGNET is hosted. I have the NELUG site there along with a couple of personal (...) (24 years ago, 31-Jul-01, to lugnet.publish)

  Reliable Web Host

Can anyone suggest a good, reliable web host, please? My site does about 1 GB of "business" per month, which is about 4 times the traffic I'm allowed by Texas.net. So, I'm tired of watching the web monitor and ordering extra capacity. I guess having (...) (24 years ago, 31-Jul-01, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: only paint w/ grey

(...) I think color blind people have a right to insist that *designers* (not fine artists) avoid red/green or red/dark gray color schemes. You must realize that one in five males suffers from some degree of color blindness (usually red/green). I (...) (24 years ago, 30-Jul-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

  Annoying change to honesty.com counters

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I just tried to add another honesty.com counter to one of my web pages and noticed that this service has been taken over by andale.com. I noticed that my existing counters still work, but I can't seem to (...) (24 years ago, 30-Jul-01, to lugnet.publish)

(...) <snipped away Brendan's nine excuses> Not to be trite or anything, but "Just do it!" Now while you're on vacation. It won't be absolutely perfect to begin with-- heck, I was tickled to even create a page that only had text! Here was a webpage (...)   RE: Question about posting DAT files here

(...) JPEG is a lossy compression format. This means that in order to compress the file size, the JPEG compression algorithm averages boxes of pixels, losing some data along the way. The higher the compression, the boxier (the more artifacts) it (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jul-01, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish)

  Re: 2002 NELUG wall calendar

(...) Umm, I don't usually do print stuff (and therefore am mostly talking out of my posterior, here) but I can recommend Micro Print on Bear Hill Rd. in Waltham.
