I've built a recreational space craft:

I envision it sort of as a sailplane for outer space...powered by solar • wind or
solar power.  Does anyone have a good idea for a name for the model?

Heh, as soon as I saw you picture I was reminded of the name "Sunjammer".
You see on Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells 2" album there's a track called
"Sunjammer". I always thought it would be a good name for, of all things, a
soler-powered spaceship! So whenever I listen to that track, I'm always
reminded of a solar-powered spacecraft zipping along.
When I saw your picture, it was only natural for me to instantly think of
that name. I couldn't name it anything else, but of course it's your model
so you can call it what you like, and I'll just sit here and be peeved ;-)

For all you artists out there, I'd also like a critique on the composition.
Any suggestions?

Build it for real and see how strong the struts - er, ahem! Oh, you mean the
rendering.
Well, I think that having a (bright but not too glaring) yellow sun in a
corner of the picture would be highly appropriate, along with a subtle lens
flare effect (if povray doesn't do lens flares you could always Photoshop
one in... right?).

Cheers,
Paul

P.S. Yeah, I know, listening to Mike Oldfield (particularly the TB2 album)
is overly geeky. What the hey, I like it.

(...) I'll need to dig out my Oldfield CDs this evening. The first Tubular Bells and "To France" are some of my favorites. I still like to play "To France" every once in a while when I get the urge to tickle the ivories. Listen well, Andreas Stabno (...) (25 years ago, 13-Apr-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
