Re: Story crafting (was Re: Please read this!

(...) The desired focus by far would probably be event driven. (with a small amount of character thrown in as well.) (...) Okay, I haven't really gone into explanation of those, (technology) although there would be some minor inclusions when it (...)   Re: Story crafting (was Re: Please read this!

(...) Ursula Le Guin has identified the "multiple foci" perspective as the hardest to execute effectively. I'm not sure I agree 100%, but it's definitely tricky to write character sufficiently distinct from one another to allow the reader to believe (...)   Story crafting (was Re: Please read this!

(...) What is the desired focus? That something is set in a particular time period does not in and of itself make it milleau... if the characters are what drive the story, it's still character. It's not a forcing per se I don't feel, but a way to (...) (23 years ago, 23-Dec-02, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

  Re: Please read this!

(...) Well, I've got quite a nice list of books to peruse for christmas vacation. (not a bad collection, as that :) However, what if you were trying to fuse story types? For example, let's say you're writing the book in a historic stance, yet it's (...) (23 years ago, 23-Dec-02, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

  Re: Please read this!

In lugnet.castle, Leonard Hoffman writes: Great post! (snipped it, but it's worth rereading...) I know some people don't like Orson Scott Card, and some do. But this book of his _How to Write Science Fiction & Fantasy_ is chock full of good advice. (...) (23 years ago, 23-Dec-02, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

  Re: Ozbricks.net down?

I got an email from Ozbricks saying that somebody had maxed out the bandwith on their server, and that they would impose a 10 Gigabyte limit on bandwith, which could be raised in case of a popular site, but of which the only purpose was to prevent a (...)   Re: Ozbricks.net down?

John, It shut down my Visual Helper site, too. (2 URLs) address used to be a redirect to the .com site. But it's blocked with the same message. The websites linked to on the front hosting page of ozbricks.com are still working, but they have a .com (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-02, to lugnet.publish)

Everything at www.ozbricks.net is down, including my website. www.ozbricks.net/kru...h/home.htm However, everything at www.ozbricks.com is fine. Maybe the .net's server is down? Does anybody know what's happening? -JHK (23 years ago, 21-Dec-02, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Camera ?'s

I don't know about a video camera, but for a still camera you should look for: Resolution (megapixels)- you can crop small stuff out of large pictures that you couldn't do otherwise with smaller sizes, and get more detail Zoom: Might not be (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-02, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: One last BrickShelf suggestion...

(...) Is it just me, or has Brickshelf been running very smoothly today? Albeit I'm on a T1 line, but over the past few weeks, that sort of thing hasn't been any better than a 24.4 modem when cruising the shelf. Anyone else getting these nice (...)   Re: Suggestions wanted

(...) You bet ;-) No, it's really easy. Like I said, I made a template page and just reuse it. It's easy for me to do this, as it's just a bunch of code. Once you learn to read it, you "see" the website before it's published (or just viewed in your (...) (23 years ago, 18-Dec-02, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: One last BrickShelf suggestion...
