Re: A new vessel in Port Brique

Great ship! Good use of available bricks. Keep them sailing. Vice Admiral, His Excellence Amato Santiago Don, Lugnet # 1239 (...) (21 years ago, 14-Jun-03, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)

A new vessel in Port Brique

Ahoy, Another privateer has turned up in Port Brique. It's not particularly big or impressive, but does have a couple of innovative features. The vessel is the Digne, and is is captioned by Guillaume Bishop. As would be expected, Bishop of Digne is (...) (21 years ago, 14-Jun-03, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)

Re: His Majesty's Loyal Privateer Lady Grace

Well, I am a fan of schooners, and it's nice to see another fore-and-aft vessel out there with a proper amount of privateer pop-guns. I'm looking forward to seeing the Lady Grace complete with sails. -->Bruce<-- (21 years ago, 2-Jun-03, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)

Re: His Majesty's Loyal Privateer Lady Grace

(...) Ken, Very nice, it's definitely a schooner, and the cannons look darn good. I guess those cod-pirates are in for a surprise. Thanks, George (21 years ago, 2-Jun-03, to lugnet.pirates)

Re: His Majesty's Loyal Privateer Lady Grace

(...) it's an *invisible* tiller. And that's an invisible boat too! : ) But let's not let that get around, there are pirates that would try to take advantage of her ladyship. As to the schooner rig, I'm generally not a big fan either, though in this (...) (21 years ago, 2-Jun-03, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)

Re: His Majesty's Loyal Privateer Lady Grace

(...) Nice work indeed! That SNOT hull is a work of art - I love the combination of slopes and the bow and more traditional plated SNOT at the stern. I'm not a fan of schooner rigs generally, but I'd love to see this one under full canvas - she'd (...) (21 years ago, 1-Jun-03, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)

His Majesty's Loyal Privateer Lady Grace

Well, I've been saying that I need to get this privateer of mine finished, and I've dropped her name a number of times. At long last, photos of 'Her Ladyship' have arrived! The pre-moderation teasers: (URL) the gallery, with pictures predominantly (...) (21 years ago, 31-May-03, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: custom sails

(...) <snip> (...) I find they work well when the arm is studs up (ie attached to the mast with a 1x4 plate with rod down), and less well for studs down (ie attached to the mast with a 1x4 or 1x2 plate with rod up). The Port Brique workaround for (...) (21 years ago, 15-May-03, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: custom sails

(...) If you're going to use a paper punch on fabric, you might want to buy a dedicated paper punch and never use it on anything _but_ fabric. Paper will dull any cutting edge (in theatre, you learn that a very painful way to commit suicide is to (...) (21 years ago, 14-May-03, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: custom sails

(...) I'm not familiar with it, but I'm sure most of the fabric stiffeners would be fine! You may have to experiment with whether you want to dilute it or not. In my case, I didn't like the amount of stiffness that the full strength solution (...) (21 years ago, 14-May-03, to lugnet.pirates)
