Re: The Pirate Game at BrickFest 2002

Grr... I'll probably respond to all the comments tonight. I have one post on it's way, but something in our firewall at work is making it take a minute or two to open an NNTP connection, and I hate editing messages in the web poster (no spell check (...)   Re: The Pirate Game at BrickFest 2002

Thanks for the fast writeup, Frank! And thanks again for running such a great game. I think having a few people around who could handle the "normal" activities of movement and combat meant that when one of us was near contentious happenings, we (...) (...) really....that was interesting. I asked Frank when he was taking a bit of time for you guys to plot your moves.... I should have used the key words .... "went bad" I guess.... ;) Ben (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.gaming, lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.pirates)

(...) I agree, but I think that this is in spite of some things that you may feel it is because of. (...) Very important! It would be even better if we could coordinate the game ahead of time, and get more participation in island provision and (...) (...) That would be putting it mildly! (...) I was unaware that you asked to use imperials. I played imperials last year (who promptly "went bad")... (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.gaming, lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.pirates)

(...) <beaucoup de snippage...> :) It looked like Larry didn't have a lot of luck this year... ;) The game looked very fun from what I saw of it. I was tempted to join but was "rebuffed" when I was told that I couldn't use Imperials or use (...) (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.gaming, lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.pirates)

The Pirate Game at BrickFest 2002

Well, I didn't take many pictures, and I don't think we had a web cam in the room, so I won't be able to do a turn by turn re-cap of the game, so I'll just free associate about the game... First off, as has been mentioned before, this was absolutely (...) (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.gaming, lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.pirates)

Beste Klaas, (...) Hartelijke bedankt! :) I just don't know what'll be next. Maybe a big ol' model of Admiral de Ruyter's flagship... (...) That latter part is part of the hope--that everyone pushes the building techniques here forward. Get going (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

Thanks for this link! But I like Lindsay's ship more, because it's made out of our favorite Bricks! :-) And.. after a big 'mining'-attack she certainly will build an new model from the scrap! I hardly can't wait for that to happen -the building job (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

Hi Lindsay, you really did it again.... and better !! Big compliments, I'm going to spend the next hour just absorbing all the awesome details! (and learn from it...) Greetings from the Netherlands, Klaas H. Meijaard (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) Length: 499 studs (156" / 13' / 4 meters) Max beam: 56 studs (17.5" / 1' 5.5" / 0.445 meters) And, bizarre as it sounds, that's actually correct to the historical ratios. Those things were like pencils with portholes! best LFB (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) It's in the works...I'm also going to dig up all of my old ships, which look comically bad (one of them is blue, heh) in comparison to the last two. It makes for an interesting evolutionary diagram of ship design. best LFB (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) Excellent powers of deduction, Bruce! :D It is indeed a heavy cruiser, of the post-Treaty sort (built 1927-1932).
