Re: Two Year Before the Mast

Back in March of '93, when I had justed returned Stateside from my 12-month tour of duty in South Korea, I decided to reward myself -- I bought both a BSB and a SES. To this day, even though I am a rabid fan of Star Wars and spent WAY TOO MUCH money (...) (25 years ago, 17-Dec-99, to lugnet.pirates)

  Two Year Before the Mast

The auction-mast. I've been collecting Pirates actively for two years, essentially since the last of the Pirates line when on big-time discount at TRU. Okay, I had snagged a Renegade Runner and Imperial Flagship when they were on discount as tests (...) (25 years ago, 17-Dec-99, to lugnet.pirates)

Re: 6854 Alien Fossilizer and 6232 Skeleton Crew availble at Amazon.com

(...) True enough. At the moment, there are many coupon codes floating around for $10 off, such as PRESENTS-4-ALL, that help offset it to a more reasonable level. I've also received several coupons in the last few months for $10 off Amazon toys, so (...) (25 years ago, 16-Dec-99, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.space, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: 6854 Alien Fossilizer and 6232 Skeleton Crew availble at Amazon.com

(...) Well, here's the not-so-hidden price structure that offsets the benefit of such an order, according to the CSR I just talked to: As a toy, each item has a flat $1.25 shipping charge; The whole order has a flat $3.00 shipping charge, whether (...)   6854 Alien Fossilizer and 6232 Skeleton Crew availble at Amazon.com

While placing an order for various Christmas gifts last week, I noticed that 6854 Alien Fossilizer and 6232 Skeleton Crew were both shown as in stock and shipping in 24 hours at (URL) They arrived today, so I can verify they're available. May be a (...) (25 years ago, 16-Dec-99, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.space, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: 5134 Shooting Cannon Service Packs

(...) Apparently US children have a mythical ability to blind/choke/impale/f...e/mutilate themselves whenever they're presented with a "shooting" toy, so that some manufacturers avoid making such toys out of a kneejerk fear of kneejerk lawsuits.   Re: 5134 Shooting Cannon Service Packs

(...) I haven't ever asked if cannon service packs are available from S@H. If they are, they won't be of the shooting variety. Are these still available in the UK? I might need to get someone to get me some. I've been getting them from Italy, but (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.market.auction, lugnet.pirates)

Re: Choosing a Digital Camera/New Photos Up

(...) Too bad the production camera doesn't support the sample imaging which Mike originally pointed me to. It showed a nice macro shot of a quarter. This camera will not be able to do that (fixed focus 50cm to infinity). I'm sure the chip is (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.publish)

Re: Choosing a Digital Camera/New Photos Up

Well, I thought I was all settled on a Mavica, then I stopped in Service Merchandise today. They actually had cameras in stock, and in addition to the Mavica had an Olympus D-450ZOOM 1280x960 w/3x optical zoom. So far, looks like a nice camera. (...)   Re: Choosing a Digital Camera/New Photos Up

I use the original Kodak DC-200 (not even a plus). Several tricks I have found: I keep a little piece of wax paper taped over the flash (it helps difuse it a bit) I always take the box shots at highest-res, then set my html to display them at 50% (...)   Re: Choosing a Digital Camera/New Photos Up

(...) The only thing I don't like about the mavica is if you aren't under florescent or halogen lights (which btw turn blonde hair green in photos) you aren't going to get that great of a shot indoors even with the flash, it's too hot. (...) You get what you you can afford. My limit was $300, and I got an Olympus D340R. I wish I have ZOOM, and I wish it can take better pictures without flash, but I'm happy with my purchase.
