I came out of my dark ages because I bought a house that had an extra room I wasn't using. Previous to this, I had a small, 1 bedroom condo. All my childhood LEGO was packaged up at my parents house. At Christmas, I would get out my pre-dark-ages (...) (26 years ago, 26-Nov-00, to lugnet.people)

(...) My exit from my Lego Dark Ages was prompted by fatherhood. My son, Spencer, was born in 1996. I bought him some Duplo when he was two. He enjoyed it well enough, but preferred his Matchbox cars. Last year, my folks instructed me to clear the (...) (26 years ago, 25-Nov-00, to lugnet.people)

David!! Your story is so similar to mine!!... I don't remember a moment in my childhood when I didn't have my LEGO out and ready to build. In 87 we moved from Calgary, Alberta to Denmark, and two years later moved back to Canada, but to Vancouver. (...) (26 years ago, 25-Nov-00, to lugnet.people)

(...) <nod, nod> I never had a true dark age, but I had a few years of "dim ages" in which I only went up to the attic (the "lego" room) once in a few months... it went off and on. I had more weird looks from my family than from my friends; my older (...) (26 years ago, 25-Nov-00, to lugnet.people)

Well, my dark ages began early 80s (81? not sure) The last set I bought was the 8860 car chassis. It ended when I saw a Mindstorms. Just had to have it. My childhood Lego had been left packed up at my step-dad's house, and luckily hadn't been (...) (26 years ago, 25-Nov-00, to lugnet.people)
