RE: How did you come out of your Dark Ages?

I came out of my dark ages about 4 years ago. I'm 38 now.... I had given my old LEGO (including blue train track and the old SHELL garage) to my twin boys and was shopping around for some Chrsitmas gifts. The Launch Command lowboy tractor with (...)   Re: How did you come out of your Dark Ages?

(...) Well this one is simple for me. My Dark Ages started about 1986/87 and lasted until the Star Wars sets came out. Star Wars is what got me back into LEGO but ever since I have been branching into other themes as well. Eric Kingsley The New (...) (26 years ago, 24-Nov-00, to lugnet.people)

Re: How did you come out of your Dark Ages?

(...) My dark ages were rather short. They began in late 1996 when Town Jr. started to come out. Town sets have lost their touch since the late 80's and early 90's. By 1999 Star Wars had come out, and I started to become a train fan. Not a fanatic, (...) (26 years ago, 24-Nov-00, to lugnet.people)

How did you come out of your Dark Ages?

Hello, I was wondering if any of you had any interesting stories about what prompted your exit from your Dark Ages. Was there a specific set? Did you visit someone with a layout? Did you immediatety go on a shopping spree? I'll get the ball rolling. (...) (26 years ago, 24-Nov-00, to lugnet.people, lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.ca)

How to find my first set... (was: Re: Lugnet Roll-call)

(...) On recent (quite random) excursions to Brickshelf, I pretty much proved myself wrong. There are quite a few sets who had the same windmill designs. I had to excercise my mind a bit further, and found out that my first set is more likely to be (...) (26 years ago, 24-Nov-00, to lugnet.people)

  Shameless self-promotion - SF, CA

I've mentioned in passing that in addition to lego, I spend a lot of time singing. Well, those of you in the SF Bay Area who want to see just what I do can come to the Dickens Fair, starting this weekend (through Dec. 17) and see me singing at "Mad (...)   I miss my music...

Last Wednesday night, as I lay slumbering in my bed after a pleasant night of Karaoke and Kamikazes, some vile person broke into my car, stole my stereo, and my ENTIRE CD collection (110 CD's GONE with the wind!). This took place AT my apartment (...) (26 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.people)

  Re: Heck yeah, liscense!

(...) I still haven't gotten mine and I'm getting very impatient. I need my freedom to buy Lego wherever I want and to go to the Lego outlet store in Virginia on a daily basis! Now wasn't that a pleasant rant? -Nick (26 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.people)

  Heck yeah, liscense!

I just got my driver's liscense and I'm so happy.. I'd never driven in snow or ice before tonight, and it just so happened that it poured down snow for the first time this winter... and it also happened to be the day of my test.. fun. I am happy. (...) (26 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.people)

  Re: Baseplate finder

I'm here! My ISP is having a crisis with both mail and web-space, although I think the mail is back up... and my main PC's hard-drive died over the weekend. I've offloaded the baseplate thumbnails to Brickshelf and will redo all those links soon. (...) (26 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.people)

Another new LEGO fan is born.

Hey all! My wife and I just had our second child, a boy. His name is John Kent Gramley III, but we're going to call him Jake to avoid confusion. He was born Monday. He was 9 pounds 13 ounces and was 21 inches long. He and Mommy are both doing well. (...) (26 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.people)

  Lugnet Memberships turn One

A little bit of digging shows that LUGNET Memberships were launched one year ago, and as of last count 664 people have chosen to formally show their support.
