Re: Are custom made parts LEGO?

(...) Hello Johannes, What follows are my opinions only... based on your questions. (...) I would respond, 'no' they're not. They would be construction parts compatible with the LEGO building system, but since they weren't actually made by LEGO, (...) (22 years ago, 31-Jul-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.parts.custom)

  Re: First post?

(...) Both styles have their advantages. In the two specific examples that you cited, the single-piece versions not only eliminate the seam you'd get when using the split parts side-by-side, but they're also hollow, allowing them to be secured by (...)   Re: First post?

(...) That's EXACTLY what I mean, and thank you very much for illustrating it since I was too lazy/rushed to dig up images. (...) I guess regular and inverse are almost as much a pair as right and left side but not QUITE as much, so I guess I can (...) (22 years ago, 31-Jul-04, to lugnet.parts, FTX)

Re: Idea for new train wheel

(...) Agree with the high quality = no need for traction tires, but there is more to it than just weight. A high quality model has less need for traction tires beceause it designed to keep its wheels on the railhead better, either by springing or (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jul-04, to lugnet.parts.custom)

  Re: First post?

(...) Ditto. (...) Do you mean that they've started releasing parts like these: (2 URLs) Rather than, or at least in addition to, a part like this: (URL) If that's what you mean, then I totally agree. I think it's great to see more of what I would (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jul-04, to lugnet.parts, FTX)

Re: Idea for new train wheel

(...) Using a BBB wheel would be the best starting point. I know that many of the train builders in Europe use the old spoked wheel, with a custom metal flanged tire added. I'd recomend turning a standard BBB to remove the flang and a git of the (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jul-04, to lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.trains)

Re: Idea for new train wheel

(...) In HO the presence/absence of tyres is sometimes considered a sign of low/hi quality. High quality models don't have them because they don't need them, they free roll enough that adhesion due to weight is sufficient. IIRC slippage is more (...)   Re: Idea for new train wheel

Sorry for replying to my own post but I just thought of something that some of these wheels may need to incorporate. I bet there needs to be some sort of rubber traction "tire" on non-conducting wheels. I would hate to see all this get mocked up and (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jul-04, to lugnet.parts.custom)

Re: Idea for new train wheel

(...) A sufficiently thin wiper made of spring metal, vertically arranged, with a horizontal tab with a suitable hole punched in it so that it would fit between two plates to hold it in place, which then had a wire soldered to it leading off to the (...) (...) sufficient? (...) current (...) avoid the (...) was a (...) wire (...) My thinking was to use a technic beam as the support structure and have a small ball bearing (bee bee?) and spring in one of the technic holes behing the wheel. That way, (...)   With sincere gratitude and regret...

The JarJar mutilations have ceased, although, the beatings will continue until you are all in submission. Special thanks go to the rollout team and especially Todd and Lar for putting up with all the slander allegations and blackmail threats. I'm (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jul-04, to lugnet.parts.mod)

Re: Idea for new train wheel

(...) Do we need the whole wheel to be metal? Or would snap on tyres be sufficient? What if you made metal flanged (and blind) tyres that snapped onto the current BBB blind wheel? It would increase the size a bit, no doubt but might avoid the (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jul-04, to lugnet.parts.custom)

  Idea for new train wheel

I've been wondering if some estudious person with a milling machine could make some train wheels in the style of the BBB wheels from metal. That way we might could pick up power from the Lego track and apply power to a technic motor. Discuss! Rob H (22 years ago, 30-Jul-04, to lugnet.parts.custom)

  First post?

Yaay! Maybe now the Jar-Jar mutilations will cease? (URL) Except maybe we should not give in to terrorists? I'm psyched about this group, I look forward to lots of great discussion. Like on why it's great that LEGO has started pairing half parts (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jul-04, to lugnet.parts)
