Agree with the high quality = no need for traction tires, but there is more to
it than just weight. A high quality model has less need for traction tires
beceause it designed to keep its wheels on the railhead better, either by
springing or some form of beam compensation (see

Both are methods I would like to have a play with in Lego, some time in the
future!
