I thought the ascii-art would be understandable, but I've made a picture with
the dimensions and starting configuration for the drag-racing arena that you can
find here:

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1590957

Hope that helps. Don't worry too much about the details. You can even bring your
own arena if you're very concerned about a finicky robot. Like I said before,
the idea is to build a robot that can do the challenge. This sounds like it's
your first time here. (Welcome!) Usually we leave the mini-challenges as
open-ended as possible to see as great a variety of different robots as we can.
That way we all learn something from everyone's robot!

Challenge yourself as much as possible. Do as much of the challenge as suits
your skills. This isn't a super competitive event! Your robot won't be
disqualified if you misread the fine-print, and winning is doing your best, and
hopefully learning something, not having the fastest time.

Looking forward to seeing you (and everyone else) in a few days.

I could use some clarification on the track material and layout. I've been using the paper track that comes with the mindstorm kit to practice and just realized the line is 1" wide. It sounds like you are going to use a 3/4" line instead. Is this (...) (19 years ago, 19-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)
