    Re: GATS size —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Great question. Some other ones... Are we thinking 2 tables thick? Hollow center with a work table? (I am a strong proponent of that, of course) Some sort of rope barrier or something, or just let the kids get up close (which seemed to work (...)      Larry & All, (...) I like it, it depends on what Chris comes up with, or the overall size we do have. (...) I am trying to find some of those barriers, I will look at Meijer tonight. Scott (23 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

         Re: GATS size —Steve Ringe
(...) Here is a proposal for a 20x32 layout with a hollow center, the center area is 7.5x16. The open area on the end is 30" and would be a nice place to put a few bridges. Each rectangular area = 1 table. (URL) (23 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

         Re: GATS size —Larry Pieniazek
(...) It looks like you are suggesting 3 tables deep, and I am wondering if that will give rise to some of the same issues or not. What do folks think? I think if we keep the train yard at 2 tables deep that will allow us easy acces to the switches, etc. I also think that we could use areas at 3 tables wide for the airport and town.       (...) Kinda what i was thinking.I wasn't sure until you just posted how big you train yard was and how many tables you would need.I think a mix if we can would work. (23 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

          Re: GATS size —Larry Pieniazek
(...) 3 is just very wide. You can't hand people stuff like flyers across 3 tables, and you can't reach the interior, so anything that's 3 tables wide would need not to have track in the middle of it in case of a derailment... that's my opinion.         Re: GATS size —Chris Leach
(...) Gentlemen, the 20x32 is the OUTSIDE dimension. So if we include a rope barrier around the tables then we are really talking about a 16x28 area table wise(with 2 ft. perimator) 18x30 with 1ft. etc. Yes GATS provides tables i just have to call (...)         Re: GATS size —Steve Ringe
(...) If we don't have a barrier, we could move the track back from the edge 1/2 to 1 plate to protect the trains. If we go to a 16x28 area it becomes difficult to lay out the tables and the inside area gets pretty small. (23 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

To Border or not to Border, that is the question.. (WAS: Re: GATS size) —Scott Sanburn
To All, Well, I guess we need some opinions, I will see if I can find any of those border things, if I can get a cost for the show, maybe then we can decide. If not, we can vote on it. I would like to try to get a cost for it first. Scott (23 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

(...) I think the parent watched their kids pretty well. I’m not sure if the kids tried to steal anything but if they did then it wasn’t noticeable. A rope would make our display smaller and I don’t think we would want that. (23 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)
