  Re: New Collaborative Storage Space

(...) Ok, I'll set it up and let you all know when it's up. Dean -- Coin-Op's For Sale!: (URL) Lego Workshop: (URL) Lego Club: (URL) (23 years ago, 29-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

(...) Yes, I know how to do it. I'm also very proficient with a iron. It's a possible solution to the yard design hiccups. Dean -- Coin-Op's For Sale!: (URL) Lego Workshop: (URL) Lego Club: (URL) (23 years ago, 29-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Stock Yard Trials

(...) I agree that the trains look much better parked on straight track. However, I don't think all the sidings need to be the same length. We will definitely have some shorter trains (ie. Thomas), and could save some real estate by having some (...) (23 years ago, 29-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

And were you going to share with the rest of us? Or keep all the train-y goodness to yourself? Matt (...) (23 years ago, 29-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Robin Sather wrote: I don't recommend Yard 1 because we need a lot of room. I'd say the smallest siding must be 6 straight tracks at minimum. Otherwise it won't hold much at all. The curve won't give us what we need. Plus, Lego Trains don't look the (...) (23 years ago, 29-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Hogwart's Express

I found some excellent resources for the Hogwart's Express train, including a page dedicated to the actual train used in the movie! My first impression is that it can be done quite nicely. The biggest problem I see so far are the large spoked wheels (...) (23 years ago, 29-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

(...) Ugg, I'm not sure I can deal with the adverts and all that. I can set up a FTP site with Web access to the files if everyone would be happy with that... Dean -- Coin-Op's For Sale!: (URL) Lego Workshop: (URL) Lego Club: (URL) (23 years ago, 29-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Idea for Thomas

Even though the engine is 8 wide, it may still be possible to make this one work as a 6 wide. I'm curious as to what Kevin will think. Robin (23 years ago, 29-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Stock Yard Trials

(...) Agreed. I thought we'd begin that when we actually had some full layouts to work with. For these basic brainstorming "idea" files, I just put my initial first, then a brief description (Yard), and a number. Robin (23 years ago, 29-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Idea for Thomas

Kevin, I came across this page, which has a very pretty little train (especially the face) that could easily be adapted for Thomas. It's still 6 wide, and quite recognizable as a face (I think). We could even build the entire face up by one plate, (...) (23 years ago, 29-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Stock Yard Trials

Some more attempts at the trapezoid shaped yard: R-Yard3: Perfect geomety, but the "main" line is composed of all curves. Not preferrable or very nice looking. R-Yard4: Geometry is good, and the trapezoid shape works. Minimal curves required to make (...) (23 years ago, 29-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  New Collaborative Storage Space

Xdrive has cancelled their free storage space, so I've set up a new space on 'Freedrive". It's about the most stable of the myriad sites that offer "free" space. We've got 20 mb there, which is more than ample for what we're doing. Site: (URL) (...) (23 years ago, 29-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Stock Yard Trials

(...) No, really not a big problem...just use low melt (either 60-40, or a real low melt solder) to make electrical jumpers around the gaps. If you do it right, the gaps are fairly small anyway (hint, use a 2x8 plate as a cutting guide, and a (...) (23 years ago, 29-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)
