One other thing for all builders (robot and Pipe track) that I think is worth
talking about...  At Brickfest, one of the 'test' courses only had about six
inches of clearance between pipes, and also between the pipe and the ground.

Given that each robot must fit into a twelve inch cube, it could be more than
six inches from the pipe (on one side) so it could hit the ground.  Or if both
robots are more than three inches (~6 inch diameter), they could run into each
other, while on adjacent paths.

So, for the sake of everyone, should there be a minimum distance between pipes,
and/or between pipes and other obstacles?

I know this is all part of the challenge, but it would really suck to have a
robot that gets stuck between the pipe and the floor, when you don't expect the
floor to be that close.

And since there's nothing in the rules that says they need to center (...) (21 years ago, 27-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Yes. It should be a foot. The pipe segments are all cut to a foot, so as long as we keep the verticals pretty long, we should be okay. The 90 deg corners helps for that. Calum (21 years ago, 27-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
