Having to keep fresh batteries for testing and the actual events is a pain (sometimes access to the RCX can be difficult). We could say that if you are having a contest with a robot that does something like what you describe, then you should disconnect the AC - OR - you could simply lift the cable out of the way if the opposing robot would get tangled.

(...) Yeah, sure you do. I won't take the excuse you can't afford the batteries, that's too lame. But if there's a good excuse, ie, you need the power/current, then that's another story.
