SCREW LIGHTWEIGHT FAST THINGS. I have now created the largest robot I've
ever built. It's totally redundantly strong. Everything is massive. I have
eight linkages going to the EOAT plate. Four moving drives. Two RCX. I've
taken everything I wanted to do for this contest and said "forget it, I'm
going to do the exact oposite." This robot isn't going to be the fastest,
but it is big. And for once, I've built something that DOESNT FLOP APPART.

This thing scares me. Somebody hold me.

Eep!  Iain built a Davish 'Bot!!!!!!

Whereas Dave built an Iain wannabe 'bot...

Hmmmm.....

Anyway, I'll try to get pics of my 'bot up this weekend, if I have time.
I have 3 mods build for the train show, which are already factored into the
layout, but i wouldn't mind getting the other 3 built before the show and
have a bigger train yard.  If not, oh well ;)

I also want to get the 'bot connected up with the webcam but so much to do.

Doing the programming now for the 'bot is proving difficult with older
firmware.  So I ordered RIS 2.0 upgrade and will be able to do arrays as
soon as it shows!!!  Yipee!!!

WHEE! So concepts 1, 2, 3, and four have ALL FAILED for me. Everything always ends up being too lightweight or too flimsy. Result? SCREW LIGHTWEIGHT FAST THINGS. I have now created the largest robot I've ever built. It's totally redundantly strong. (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jan-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
