Project Why? Because I wanna ask! —David Koudys
Did we sign off on the non-LEGO built sensors? Would we be able to use HiTechnic stuff for the next competition? And if it's not a sensor, but more of a modified wire connector, such as Rob S. built for his firefighting 'bot-- (URL) this piece (...) (18 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Uh...how about...NO. Didn't you read the item about: "Only Lego pieces can be used and only "normal" construction techniques-No sawing, gluing or melting of pieces. You can use as many or as few pieces as you wish." HiTechnic stuff has always (...) (18 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Project Why? Because I wanna ask! —Chris Magno
(...) I sure dont. John Barns KILLED my dog!!! I saw it with my own eyes. He drove up here in a pick up with the LegWay logo on the side, and then aimed for that cute harmless puppy. It was evil. I cant be sure, But i think Steve H was in the (...) (18 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) THIS IS TOTALLY UNTRUE. I had cherry. Brian had vanilla. (18 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Project Why? Because I wanna ask! —Brian Davis
(...) OH NO YOU DON'T!! You're not framing me for this one, Steve! I had chocolate, and I was only working the GPS-dog locator, *not* actually directing John in the drivers seat. Geesh, one simple little puppy removal, and it gets all bent out of (...) (18 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Project Why? Because I wanna ask! —John Barnes
(...) Hey, I was told it was a full grown dog. Not a pup. I wouldn't hurt a pup. Might send my cat to teach it a thing or two, but I'd never touch it myself :) JB (18 years ago, 10-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Project Why? Because I wanna ask! —David Koudys
(...) not to be pendantic, but can I mention that you've allowed non-official sensors in other competitons before? With the premise that the 'bot 'could do it with regular 'LEGO' sensors, but the builder didn't swap 'em in and used the HiTechnic. I (...) (18 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Project Why? Because I wanna ask! —Derek Raycraft
(...) How about coding your robot so it doesn't twist them up in the first place. Adding the turntable in the wire means your wires won't twist up, which means they won't add tension to the connectors which means they won't pull off the connectors (...)          Re: Project Why? Because I wanna ask! —David Koudys
(...) K, have you met me? Fundamentally, I'm lazy. And the code'll already be written such that the wires don't get twisted. I just wanted to try something different, and it'll give me an excuse to use a soldering iron. I'll stay in the scope of the (...) (18 years ago, 10-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Project Why? Because I wanna ask! —Calum Tsang
(...) Not to be pedantic but it's pedantic. :) There's been one or two examples. Given an average of five entries per each of our 17 contests, there's bound to be some. But they're isolated situations. If you want to do it, go ahead. I will request (...) (18 years ago, 10-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Project Why? Because I wanna ask! —John Barnes
(...) Yeap. Pedantic would describe that pretty well. Wire is wire. JB ps: I've got some of this really quick wire of sale, sensor results arrive 1.75nS earlier than other brands ;) (18 years ago, 10-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Project Why? Because I wanna ask! —Calum Tsang
(...) No, it's not. The wire ring item increases the flexibility of positioning electric components around a model. It allows you to "do more" over the existing Lego wire. To do the same without it, would require more software (as Derek suggests) or (...) (18 years ago, 10-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
